    eek GSXR 250 starting problems

    Hi, I've recently bought a 1990 GSXR 250 a few months back and its been great. However lately and i know its the colder weather but ive been having troubles starting my bike. If its cold and I havn't been running the bike the day before, the bike will not start with or without choke. I understand that they have twin carbs and flood easily but Im pretty sure it shouldnt be this hard to start. Hill starting does work, but If its flooding that quickly I dont know what to do.
    Please if anyone could give me any tips.
    Thanks =)

    Try this. Full choke/no throttle. You cant use both at the same time or you will flood it and it wont start. If your battery is not 100% you will drain more and more power out of it each time you attempt to start it compounding the problem. SO, full choke/no throttle at all.

    Then use it?
    when i havnt been riding my bike for few days it will not start with normal ignition. and its not a problem really. its been like it since brand new. the bike is just cold.
    what i was suggested to do (which works great ) is

    1: put on full choke, keeping my hand near the choke , and give it gas as i turn it on.

    2: as soon as its gotten life i put the full choke into medium choke. give it a bit more gas ( if you choke is just on or off then just turn it off )

    3: then i leave the gas when it gets going.... and when its warmed up a bit i just turn the choke off and ride off.
    and then throughout the day and such i dont even need the choke anymore, i just press ignition and all is go.

    Note again** its just for when i haven't ridden it for a while and its dead cold.

    that works for me. try it.

    Thanks i will but ive just found that even with full choke/half/none it wont start and will just flood straight away. (bearing in mind this is when its cold and has been sitting a day or two)

    So it won't start in this colder weather? What makes you think it's flooding?
    Oh - and if it's a 4 cylinder then it's 4 carbs.
    Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

    I think its flooding because when i do hill start it. Its sluggish stinking of petrol and black exhaust smoke.

    Took my bike into a workshop this morning turns out its the battery. The battery has to be near full capacity to turn over the starter motor and the plugs plus the cold weather just made the shitty battery worse.
