Wheel swapping

Hi guys, im really new to bikes and im wondering if its possible to swap the wheels off a 2001 FXR150 and put them on an RGV150??
Im not to keen on the RGVs spoked wheels...
Any and all help would be really helpful!!!

You might have problems with the front discs if you swap the wheels. The FXR front wheel size is 17 inch rim, while the RGV has a 18 inch rim. Also need to check which side the brake rotor and caliper is mounted - from memory the FXR is mounted on the right hand side while the RGV is mounted on the left. By changing the wheels this will prob also affect your speedometer which is cable fed from a mount on the hub, another factor which would affect the swapping of the wheels.

If possible, the 1998 RG150 had cast wheels (not spokes) and are 17 inch rims, so this may be an answer. However the front disc may be on the opposite side though. Hope this helps

You'll be wanting an RG150 [note, not the RGV], you could try and grab a couple wheels off one of them, though you'll have trouble with your rear wheel, as the RGV has a drum brake on the rear, and the RG has a disc brake.
In the end, you're probably just best to stick with the original wheels, likely to be far too much trouble trying to find a suitable pair to swap with.

Hell, you wouldn't wanna ruin the aesthetics of the pretty lil RGV by sticking ugly other rims on

There are many advantages to spoked wheels over cast wheels. They are generally lighter, more forgiving on rough surfaces (like suddeen pot holes) and are rebuildable. The disadvantage are that you generally need tubed tyres rather than tubeless. Overall if your bike already has spoked wheels then stick with them.

If you do change then keep the same diameter wheel or you will change your rake and trail and that may adversely affect your bike's stability and cornering.
