Plastic welding. How much can they do? And how much should it cost?

I haven't been on KB properly for months, mostly because I dont have a bike at the moment. I keep waking up realising I was dreaming of riding and it is driving me nuts. So I have decided enough with procrastination and aim to be riding in the next few months. As of today I have taken the next step and ordered the (hopefully) last couple of bits I will need to complete the bike. But I still need to plastic weld literally all of the fairings on my bike. Some arent bad, simply a crack through the fairing and are menable. Others I am not so sure. So my question is, how much can plastic repair companies do? Can they repair a bit of road rash or do they simply weld? And I know this is a very open ended question, but how much approx am I looking at to get them repaired?

My husband plastic welded pretty much the whole side of a friends bike that was crashed at 140kms. I have also seen him make bits that were missing..........

Not really worth it on a common bike, you can get a painted fairing set from Hong Kong for next to nothing.

The quality of those fairings is questionable at best. They don't fit well together, bits break and fall off from vibration, and they deform from heat.

make sure you take it to someone that can actually do the job properly as there are some idiots out there that do a real ugly job. plastic welding just welds 2 bits of plastic together but if ther is road rash on your fairings they will simply sand and fill with a fine putty. If you decide to sand fairings yourself make sure you don't use a to coarser sand paper as it will make your fairings all fury and will need a real good build up of 2pak primer. As for price it will vary depending on who does it someone that does it well and correct will charge more proberly around $50-$60 per hour.

Yeah, thats what I heard as well. Wouldn't really trust the Chinese stuff to be honest. Plus if I repair the OEM fairings I can respray them to my own preference. I might take them to the plastic repair company in Archers road and get them to take a look and advise on a price

Put them all in a box, and send down to me in Ingelwood, and I will have them repaired by an EXELLENT plastic man that I use a lot, he has never let me down

Had a quote from Plastic repair company and they quoted 80-100 for the work which is about 3 welds. I think I'll go with this option. Thanks to those who offered their help. Its appreciated

I just took my bike into http://www.plasticrepair.co.nz/ for a quote. Vertually every panel needs to be repaired or resprayed. Think it was around $1400 they quoted me.

Fast forward to just now, and found this site which looks like a quality product for new aftermarket ones for about the same price including shipping http://www.motorcycle-fairing.com/gs...fairing-13.htm

Anybody got fairings from them? Any good?
