The average KBer would have slowed down to check out the little school girlies, especially if it was a catholic school. Mmmmmmmmmm, catholic school girls

Back in the old days (about 10 years ago....)we all used to cruise down town on friday/saturday night, and meet up in one of the sidestreets off queen street, then head out along tamaki drive to the point at about 11pm.....What a great road at that time of the night without all the traffic! I'll never forget chasing lance lowe along there on his dads V-Max with sparks coming off the undercarrige at every corner!
I'd like to know why there aren't more redlight camera's too, there's prolly more $$$$$ to be made with those(and more of a safety issue)than those dumbass speed cameras....

    Agree.

What I don't agree with is the rigid enforcement policies at the moment. I don't see how 111km/h on a 4 lane median barriered motorway in my 1998 model car with 4 wheel discs, ABS brakes and expensive directional tyres (with 5mm+ tread depth) and 14 years of driving experience gets the same treatment as said 'tarded up boys in car older than them, drum brakes, retreads and 6 months maybe driving experience on some narrow backroad. Yeah okay, they'll get the added bonus of license infringements yada yada yada, but they'll also get the same speeding ticket I will.

Where's the common sense in that?

What happened to the good ole days when common sense prevailed. And don't feed me that shit about what the road toll was like back then - cos they didn't have bugger all cars with ABS, pre-tensioner seatbelts, effective crumple zones and all that.

Of course, Scumdog, you strike me as the type of cop who would apply common sense and may "choose" to not see the 1998 stationwagon at 111km/h, whereas you may "choose" to see the said old shitter. But sadly many of your colleagues don't operate that discretion.

On a side note, saw 5th Gear on TV other day, did a frontal offset test on a 9 year old Renault Espace (ugly people mover) vs a brand new 5-star NCAP rated Renault Espace. Scary. Very scary. Almost made me want to trade my 98 wagon for a new one! Driver of old one would have been killed despite airbag, new own barely deformed, didn't even trigger airbags. Just about drove right through the old one.

Sure enough when she was only a short (unknown) distance away two of the girls start running across the road side-by-side, girl nearest car sees it and comes to a screaming halt, second girl does not notice and keeps going, the l-o-l stands on the brakes, hits 2nd girl who slides up the bonnet until her face is about a metre away in a straight line from the l-ol-s, much shitting of knickers all round, luckily 2nd girl o.k. enough to walk away (impact knocked her out of her shoes though).

Point is, if l-ol-l hadn't been so cautious and had been like certain posters on KB and did the old "fuckit, 63kph ain't too fast for in town" I'd guess the 2nd girl would still be in hospital or worse - and if l-o-l had been on a scoot of some sort? Not good eh?

Good argument for 30 or 40 km/h school speed zones and tough enforcement.
Believe it or not, I wouldn't have a problem with that. Plus it'll keep you guys off our fun roads.

I didn't mention that the role is undercover, you'll wear a thong, and need a brazillian. But if the reality is anything like your avatar you'll need an entire South American.

No worries. So long as I can get a fake tan first because on a sunny day my arse is white enough to dazzle a 747 pilot at 60,000 feet.

    Far too much info.
Why don't you put a blue filter on one cheek and a red on the other, sit on the car roof and you'll get to emergencies much quicker.
