Random checks on the Coro loop over summer

    WTF. Check out 3news tonight.
About time they put some time and money into:
    Fixing roads
Teaching car drivers to pull over and let us go past asap
Sign posting road works properly would be nice also.

Is it not bad enough these days that you cant go over to the okoroire with out passing at least two cops eachway.

Hope there not doing roadside nosie checks or I'll have to put some gay stock pipes back on.

    Loud is best I say.

Darn right too - why some of those fellas on TV looked rather scruffy, nary a white scarf in sight.

What did they say - 1/3 of the bikes were not compliant - noise? REGO? WOF?

As it was designed to 'educate' riders I'd be interested in what they said or gave you when you were stopped to be educated.

Usual TV stuff - 16 times more likely to be injured .......

Targeting the high risk riders - 15-25 and the born again 30-50 (think I got that quoted correctly). Made me laugh

Targeting the born again, 30 to 50. OK, I'm alright, they won't be looking at 62 year olds on 250 cc bikes who are still on their restricted licenses.

Huge PR, feel good initiative to demonstrate they are doing "something" to improve road safety. Though frankly I can not see what stopping people while they are going about their lawful business, and checking they are "legal" has to do with road safety myself.

They would be better off re-engineering some appalling roads and making sure that repairs are carried out with motorcyclists safety in mind.

    I suppose.

But being safely isolated from non compo mentis sprotsbike riders up there it doesn't really worry me.

Until my ACC levy goes up.

they must be pretty onto it to pick out 25-30 and 50+ riders under all their riding gear to let them through with no inconvience too

and the idea that they can tell if you are riding safely or not by what bits of paper are attached to your bike is fucking ridiculous.

I've just imagined an interesting conversation.

Police Officer: You're bike is too noisy.

Me: But you want me to be safe, and my being seen, and heard, is likely to prevent some in-attentive car driver ramming me.

Police Officer: But your bike is non-compliant.

    Me: But it's safe ....

While the representative from ACC dithers on the sideline.

Thank you. Can you make your next post a little more offensive please

For the record, I dont drive drunk, I am not disqualified, I dont take drugs, I am fully licenced, my vehicles are wof, and amazingly enough registered as well.

Where do they get off stopping me just because I ride a motorcycle? If I am not speeding, and am not behaving in a way that brings me to the attention of plod, why stop me?

    Mwahahah - tish!!
At the risk of you trolling - all those I described depend on 'not behaving in a way that brings them to the attention of plod' - well not as long as they are within sight of said plod anyway...and not in their mind.

"I indicated back ther so why did you stop me?"
"Because you indicated right and went left"
    "Oh"
So how much have you been drinking?"

    And so the opera goes....
