Over the weekend of the 4km/h tolerance shambles I spent a few minutes trying to keep within the tolerance.

It was surprisingly easy. I watched the speedo until I was travelling at 100 then merely glanced at it every 20 seconds or so.

Oddly, I was fairly accurate, and it was easy to do.

I didn't have to keep my eyes off the road much at all, as all the KB posters have claimed.

Still, maybe I'll add that to the list of riding skills I have; being able to perceive and monitor speed without having to constantly focus on the speedo.

Spooky really, don't speed and you don't get speeding tickets. You don't need cash, credit cards or even a cheque book. No free steak knives though.

    So there.

Rustuscat, I don't see your point, if you take a look at the sign posts that have been positioned perhaps we could get your professional opinion.... oh wait, that would mean draggin your ass away from your sheep in the south island lol.... Perhaps you would be better suited riding your sheep than a motorcycle, I'd feel alot safer knowin your not on the road. lol.

I guess that means you didn't see the signs.

Now tell us about how good a rider you are, and how your environmental awareness is so good you see everything.

    So there.

Fek, arse. Looking forward to going over the Brynderwyns is the only thing that makes the Ruakaka straights bearable. Now, because the easiest & cheapest way to keep bad drivers from crashing on a corner is a reduced speed limit I will probably be leaving or joining SH1 at the Swinging Cow. The "safer" SH1 gets the longer it takes me to get to Auckland. If the powers that be refuse to educate road users properly & continue to choke perfectly good highways I'm going to be riding gravel roads in a few years. Gonna need a tent & a billy can when I head south.
Lazy, self serving, money grabbing, idiot pandering bureaucrats. Don't solve the problem, just keep it at arms length. Grrrrr.

The Rule assumes that 50 and 100km/h speed limits are obvious, but anything in between requires a repeater sign a maximum distance apart based on travel times, about two minutes if I recall correctly.
    Cheers for that
