Just got to put it into perspective cowboyz!

Motor vehicles in general devalue and that's a fact of life. Personally, I think you've done bloody well out of your bike i.e. initial cost vs k's accumulated, reliability, fun factor etc.

You can get your own PAV's done. They will usually need to be done by registered Motor Vehicle dealers though. Don't take the Assessors word for it. First offer on my Celica was only 3K, but with my own PAV of 8 +GST, then a further done by the Insurance Company, got the final offer up to 7 1/2, which is when I gave up, and accepted.

If the insurers have multiple PAV's they will Average them to come up with an offer.

You have to weigh up what they will offer you the wreck for as well.

In the end it comes down to how stubborn you are, and what your time (and stress levels) is worth to you to battle it.

Spose the only thing about a low value,is when /if they write off the buy back option is lower.

Not necessarily. You know the story of hXc's Spada...
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Sorry, thought it was another case of getting screwed by insurance. I hope at least it's a similar case for Cowboyz.

yes.. but when your looking at $2500 for a vechile you cant buy for under 5k how do you get to that value? Surely something is worth what you can buy it for? I tell you what.. Ill give you $400 for your speed triple.. That now means your bike is worth $400? After all, you should be happy with that. Its a vechile ad vechiles devalue....

Its not even close to a done deal yet. will wait and see....

Insurance companies suck! How many times I have heard about them undervaluing vehicles in an attempt to minimise payouts. Go and get some quotes to replace the bike. No doubt there will be a spread of what is considered "market value" but at least if you are getting the quotes you may be able to redress any inbalance in the process. Sucks Lance, really it sucks!

You have a valid argument............but there are two sides to every argument. Insurance must indemnify you, but they're not going to provide betterment, which I bet is exactly how they'll see paying out $5K.

Like you said, it's not a done deal...........so take the fight to them!

Well as you stated in my FS thread, these bikes just aren't worth that much apparently. However, mine was a '94 with 93,000km on the clock, probably not in as good condition as yours, and sold for $3,9000... If someone's willing to pay the cash then that's what it's worth!

I reckon $4,500 would be a fair price for the one on the trademe link. $4,000 or less would be a good buy. Deduct $1,000 - $1500 for lesser condition/higher miles etc.

    Interesting enough..
if you take out the 2 muppets who said the bikes worth nothing and the guy with extremely good taste who said its worth over 6k then the average comes to $2765.

    I settled insurance on $4000

Was that bike and gear or bike only, bloody good deal, especially if they took a trade value, not retail value.Scary thing is the next bike you insure gives them the excuse to wack the excess and premium due to write off.

Suppose the good things take time is relevant, but bloody hell has been a while.
