    Trade me bike catagories

they are pretty limited (eg. no catagory for Motard, adventure, commuter, trikes, dirt bikes should probably be split into MX & enduro etc etc.) But some people just don't seem to know what they've got to sell.
The cruiser catagory is probably the best example. It has everything from GSX's, CB's, CBR's, Piaggio scooters, XJ Yamahas, Ninja's, ZZR's & lotsa GN's (what are they anyway) etc
There's sport bikes in with dual purpose, dual purpose in with the tourers, cruisers in with the tourers & Harley's in the Sports catagory. There's an "other" catagory that is a mix of everything coz people don't seem to know what they have. There are far too many for it to be just mistakenly put in the wrong catagory.
I know some bikes are pretty close to being 2 catagories (eg. what is a Triumph TIger?) but some are plainly obvious.
Now I don't really give a toss (it's trade me's mess), but you'd have a damn sight better chance of selling your bike if you listed it in the right place.

Yeah or 125's and scooters for sale in the Touring bike category.
Tardme need to have a concerted "cleanup aisle 7 please" and get things back in order by coming down on the 1 man band businesses that seem to be doing a lot of that sort of thing.
    eg:

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-198919649.htm

Mind you it's not just the smaqller players doing it but bigger bike shops too.
I mean seriously Haldanes..... Is this really a touring bike????

I too think the Trademe bike search function needs a revamp. It would be nice to have an advanced search function where you could specify cc ratings more exactly.

Ever tried finding a bike between 251cc and 500cc? The amount of 250s you have to trawl through is so frustrating!

Yep the CC rating is the most frustrating one. I get pissed off trying to look for 400s. People labelling bikes different doesn't help (eg VFR 400 and VFR400). If they got rid of the 500cc and replaced it with 400cc and 600cc it would work a little nicer. Guess you cant stop idiots putting bikes in the wrong categories though.

Almost forgot. The number #1 thing that pisses me off is people who use "keywords" to attract more hits. Like this for an R6 listing

key words: aprillia buell ducati honda kawasaki ktm suzuki triumph cbr600 cbr1000 zx6r zx10r gsx gsxr 600 750 1000
It means you have to trawl through loads of shit to find what you were actually searching for.

I think there are GN's listed in just about all the catagories. Quite a multipurpose bike!

and these (there's lots of them listed)
    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-301477567.htm

dual purpose... postie Monday to Friday, motocross saturday/sunday.

Maybe trademe need a postie catagory.

I would also like to see a function that searches while ignoring the free text description, there is very little that annoys me more then having an ad for a gy200 come up in my search for yzf 250s etc

P.S. anyone who writes words relating to cars such as the following ad needs fingernails down a blackboard played to them for 4 hours. yes it is just a random example and there are plenty of them

My gripe is the 4 wheelers listed as motorbikes - they should be a separate category - they make up over half of my searches and I have no interest at all in looking at farm tractors
