Otorohanga and beyond!

Hi,

Picking up my first New Zealand bike tomorrow. A (hopefully) sweet Yammy fzr250 will be waiting for me in Otorohanga and after taking the train up from Wellington I'm hoping to make a little road trip of the journey down, or up or west or east.
Haven't really got a plan of what to do next. Haven't got a job or a flat so I might just head for Gisborne and do some fruitpicking.

If anyone has a nice suggestion of where I should go and what I need to see in this beautiful country please post! Don't be shy, any plan is better then no plan and because im an indecisive fucker Im likely to give the craziest ideas a whack.

oh, and I'll need places to stay along the way and I rather spend money on beer to share than swanky hotels so if anyone would put me up in their barn that would be wicked.

Good luck on your travels, a must (if you are going to Gizzy) is the Waioeka Gorge.
And right around the East Cape when you get time.
