Righto, I got random stopped today, on the scooter too I might add, oh God, the shame and indignity of it all! So, yes boys, it's happening here.
He must've thought I was some punk-ass school kid, as I got stopped on Waimea Rd, just down road from Boy's College (yes, in Nelson).
Cop was real nice about it, explained his purpose, did the basic checks, licence, rego, and WOF, oh, yeah the scooter don't need a WOF, yeah! One point to me!
Basically gave me a pat on the back really, bike up to scratch, and wearing good gear.
He then talked about going for a ride this avo himself, so despite being a cage cop, he wasn’t all bad and obviously rides in his spare time.
He commented on my flash KTM jacket, as if to say WTF are you wearing that for on a scooter, I had to explain that the scoot does the job just fine for a 7km commute.
What I should’ve said was “Well officer, my less than legal EXC dirt bike as parked up in the shed with no WOF and Rego and you cop mo-fo's aren't gonna catch me on that, cos I’ll head for the hills” but seeing how the cop passed the attitude test, I let him off lightly.

I don't feel at all aggrieved about the process, but I can imagine those who may be riding out of their licence class, or un-regoed etc, could well be a little nervous. Hence the reason I'll be very careful where I take the EXC over next 10 weeks, I say I'll be trailer trash to any of the local trail rides..... maybe with the exception of Sharlands eh boys?

Read a letter to the editor in the Nelson mail tonight, basically a group of bikers being stopped by the police riding through Motueka. random stop apparently until the police started going a bit too far, asking if they had been in trouble with the Police before etc and getting really carried away with questioning etc that had no relation to the blitz . Papers not here otherwise i would copy it here.

I have no trouble with the blitz but if the police are going to use it for other reasons then thats not right.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

Yeah, just like the "good old days" in my youth in Nelson. Had a H2 Kawasaki. Local cop used to follow me around looking for transgressions (having already established i had current licensing on the previous "random checks")

Got stopped on Sunday avo outside Founders for breath test. He checked the reg etc & was pretty cool about it.

I had a new slightly louder pipe on that I was testing out up the forest & it has horrendous decell popping. I was impressed with my steady eddy throttle hand slowing down to stop
Another cop must have known it wasn't stock cos he looked like he was itching to look it over & blip the throttle.

Good on them for at least trying to get the drunk pricks (& more commonly down here drunk prickesses) off the road

    Wheeew read it again!!!!....
When I get stopped and my wof is out it will save a life?????...
I think I need to read this again. I may be missing something.

Or could it be..... the number of bikes rego'd has fallen due to the inevitable rises incurred. And we need to put the feelers on these law dodging bludgers of motorcyclists.....

As usual a small amount of disbelief will suffice....and remember.
If you comply there is no problem.....wtf!!!.....mine fuhrer.
Also.....along those imortal lines. Resistance is futile..................

Had catchy "booze Bus" signwriting on it......

Oh and they seemed to offer courtesy car rides home for tired cold wet motorbike riders as well....

No, no, what you have said will not do - we want to hear about 100's of innocent bikers getting randomly stopped by the wicked police and issued with tickets that were obtained by 'fishing' for faults that hardly even exist and the rider didn't know about...
