Early '80s.. I had an XJ650 - fast bike in them days. Plod drove early commodores, 202 engined ones.

I was chased, XJ was way faster, but I ran low on gas, on reserve so thought I may just stop at any-time, so decided to stop, in the hope I would have enough gas to get home after copping the ticket.

I stopped, and the commodore stopped in front of me, angled in like he had just cut me off. A very red faced and clearly angry fella got out of the car, and was walking towards me, when we heard this massive "woosh" from his car.

He had been caning it for quite a few kays chasing me. When he stopped, he turned the key off, and the engine driven fan stopped. The car had just blown a radiator hose I think, steam, and water everywhere.

I didn't think it would improve his mood, so I left.

Two stories from when I was a younger man.

Heading home one afternoon came steaming over a hill at 3 figures (old money) and there was a traffic cop driving the other way. He must have been fairly quick witted as instead of doing anything silly he just gave me the finger and carried on. In case he could be bothered getting on the radio I pulled onto side roads and crawed home on gravel (on a sports bike) Arrived home late and worn out

Second story: Late for an appointment, pealed out and took off down the road. Freinds tell me I was chased with lights flashing etc but to this day I never saw him

These days I pick my moments a bit better

I have heard that while in the not stopping while others are wishing you to stop situation that most people turn first left...... I understand the police know this as well, if it were me in that car and had lost sight of you My bet would have been to turn first left as well.... just for shits and giggles.
Prolly true. Done it myself. The trick is to do it 3x in quick succession (third to go behind a hedge...DAMHIK)
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Heard an interesting story recently from a KBer who had received information from an authoritative source that the new HP cars are supposed to be capable of 260kph. Recent experience suggested, however, that figure might be just a tad optimistic.

Not all cops are actually capable of using that sort of performance but one of our locals raced in the IoM, if he was after you you'd need to be really quick. Or really lucky.

Yeah, I've done the dodger thing before, but a long time ago (a couple of decades) and in a car.

In my case I was going 30+ above the limit when a police car came around a bend ahead and the driver inside looked in my direction, before I went around that bend he had turned on his red & blues and was starting a u-turn. I turned right then left then up a driveway - sat there for 10 minutes with adrenaline pumping like crazy, then carefully drove on to my destination.
It was a calculated move - I didn't think the cop had time to make a note of my number plate and he was making a u-turn while I went around the bend, then right - by the time he got to where I had been I would be out of sight and he would have no easy way of working out where I went.

In a case where you would have to ride really fast and actually outrun a cop I just don't know if it would be worth the risk of crashing & dying or getting caught and in more shit - probably not worth it for most people.

I had my first dodge the other day, just breaking through a bunch of traffic stuck behind a car waiting to turn right, so I took the left and got a bit of a boost going, when Mr Plod comes cruising on past. Brake, lights, looking to do the U when he meets the line of stuck traffic and can't quite initiate the turn. I was off down the next side street, and the nxst, and the next and took the round about route to my destination, alot slower.
I think, a well orchestrated dodge is enough of a warning most of the time. It takes a mad sort to cane it like crazy after a close miss (or so I'd hope :P)

Been in more than I care to say.

One of the funniest though was a very early hours of the monring several years ago. I was already being pursued at medium speed for some 30s and I came across another copper speaking with a customer on the other side of the road. Obviously, Po-po #1 had been on the radio and Po-po #2 had heard of his plight and then seen me approaching and he was legging it back to his marked Commonwhore as I passed.

One thing has always intrigued me. Once you get in a wee tussle, the number of other cops you see is amazing. One Sunday night, at about 10pm, a copper turned and chased and I swear I saw no less than 3 more cops on my swift journey home.
If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!

if you drop them off the cliff maybe...i drove latest SV6 and to be honest they take awfuly too long to get from 120 to 160km so even if 260 was posible on very long straight road you'd be gone by then...

Someone I know was doing 90 just as he/she entered an 80 zone with a porka coming the other way. Saw his brake lights come on and the big swerve to the road side luckily my friend tells me there was a long line of traffic coming and my friend gave his trailbike all that it had and ran. He/She never saw the pork again. I might give this a try one day too.

Ooh, that reminds me of another 'incident' from my yoof:
I was heading south on the main street of Hamilton and swooped around the free left turn onto Bridge street when I noticed a car back at the traffic lights turned on its red & blues. I thought "I wonder who he's after . . . oh wait, 80-90kph in a 50 zone by me might explain it". I didn't speed up (I was going quite fast enough as it was) and carried on over Bridge st bridge and up to the intersection, lights were green (luckily) and I made a right, then a left at the next lights (also green) and carried on home. I did have a wee chuckle to myself at the idea of a police officer attempting to get through the traffic on Bridge st - I would rate his chances at 'not a shit show'.
Actually I went the same way at the same speed as I would have if the cop hadn't been there at all.

This was on my GT-250 X7 - not a fast bike, but light and with good acceleration (2 stroke 250). I loved that bike, I got my first speeding ticket on it (and my 2nd & 3rd). Ah, good times!

Lol, this be true, never thought of it like that. Basically I turned off the main road where I usually traverse to avoid a toll road. I suspect popo was held up by several vehicles whilst he had to do a U turn.......... hopefully on a straight clear piece of road lol..
I am freindly really, I only bite when provoked
