    Ktm 200exc

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-335609613.htm

I've seen this on trademe for a while - Am I correct in assuming its got something rather serious wrong with the bottom end to be rattling as he describes?

I am after a 200, but I suspect he knows exactly what is wrong with his bike and is trying to flog it off to someone who doesn't know.

See its now stolen but it would be interesting to know peoples opinions on likely problems for future refereence

might find someone had a look at it told him what was wrong with it so it was easier for it to disappear rather than fix given it value get an insurance pay out would nt the first time. But hey could also be some just stole it or went and saw it cased it out then went back and took it.
Id always be careful of buying anything with a rattle when they say not sure or cant be bothered to fix or the other one is yeah mate been running like that for ages runs really well though.

A mate had a bike that developed a rattle and turned out to be a big end bearing, cost about 800 to replace and that included him pulling the engine apart and just taking the crankshaft into the shop to be repaired.

Haha you'll notice I haven't been posting at all for a while! This place has changed far to much for the worst! To much anti this make or that make shit here now! Not what we used to do with helpful mechanical and ride meeting threads! I just cant be bothered anymore!
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

looks in general, a very tidy bike, would it still not be worth to buy as a do up?
and at what sort of price, would you pay?
I don't know, but would their be at lest a grand in the rolling chassis.
any idea on what sort of money one would have to spend, if the engine was a total
    rebuild?

i'd emailed the guy offering him 1k cause i figured i could fix it up for max 1k - 1.5k, and even then it would still be alright value. he never responded though :-)
