I´ve ridden like a twat in the past as I´m sure Katman and other safety orientated posters. Some people get away with pushing it on the roads forever for others it takes the loss of a mate or a serious but survivable crash to wake them up. Push your envelope on your own bit of road or track and let me just "live" thanks.
My envelope is generally pushed on an empty road.....I have no impact on you and cant think why you would assume I do. Interesting how you also assume that reading biker down threads will impact my riding. Been on the road for 32 years now on 2 wheels and 4, have had one friend killed on a bike (on a track in the 80's) 2 in cars and 1 skiing. I still ride and drive, cant ski for shit, but a friends death wouldnt stop me and I would give 100%...using my own judgement in regard to my safety and the safety of others.

Good for you, I guess your not like the "others" then. Doesn´t matter how long anyone has been on the roads - if the biker down threads don´t make you think a little about your riding style and attitude there is something wrong.
I love the smell of twin V16's in the morning..

    Wheelie For Life...

Well, wheelies are not essential for motorcycle happiness, however they do work tremendously.
If you want to learn to wheelie, the only places I find that are accessible are rural back roads. If you want to learn without too much damage if you are a real novice, get a trail bike and have a go on a paddock.
I learned on the paddock with an XR250 and a CR200. Doing them on the road with a more powerful bike is much easier. All you do is power up drop back and power on hard and hold. On my speed triple its easy as pie in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The rocket 111 I had was a bit more difficult to get up and land, but not as hard as my HD fat boy I had. Sadly I blew the front forks one time when it landed a bit hard lol.....
I am hardly a wheelie king, but there are certainly a few on here. If its got two wheels It can wheelie.

Go a find a quiet road with a good long up hill, cause (one) when going up hill....it's easier to get the front wheel up & (two) you'll find that the speed will increase less than compared to doing them on the flat...making it less scary when starting out
    Fook Yeah!...Me Got DRZ400sm Now!

I sort of agree with katman for once. I know for true (how gooder england is that ?), there are members of the public who know not any motorcyclists in person. The only images they have of "bikers" is what they see on telly, hence they think we are all P-selling, gang-banging ex-cons who have no friends except for bottles of rum and woman with loose morals and fast hands..

Now while this may be true for most of us (not all of course, we know katman is pretty clean), you can see why doing wheelies in a really public place may be a bad idea..

BUT ! I'm not saying don't do wheelies, I think they are wicked. Fantastic even. On the same level as finishing a proper yard glass in under 3 minutes. Just maybe some people need to use their noodle a little before they decide to do 200m long mono's down Tremaine Ave on their 07 GSX-R 600..

It's not a matter of agreeing with anyone. It's just common sense.

There are Jackass places to do stuff and there are appropriate places.

It's about understanding the consequences and making the right choices.
