there was a good article written by Travis Pastrana a few years back about start line procedure, and some of his competitors, incl the mind games that go on, and some of the guys that were annoying to start next to,

my favourite was asking the guy next to you if he used two or three fingers on teh clutch and ask him to expalin why, to get him thinking about it,

i know i check my fuel tap and choke about 10 times at least before a race,
