    Wrong.

Wrong wrong wrong, and I have the video evidence to prove it.

What video evidence? Do you and your mates ever cruise the aves on weekends?

What imdying said. However I'm about 1.5km from Bealy Ave, so I travel the Ave quite often going over to mates etc, see it all first hand there.

It's not really that bad. The media blow it all out of proportion. It's nothing like the good old days 5 years ago, people doing skids down Moorehouse ave, 180kmh traffic light grand prix at every set of traffic lights....Cruising has been up to fuck all over the last 2 years. The aves have basically died off on their own accord, long before any 'anti cruising' legislation was even thought of.

You realise the problems are as much social as driving related, right?

But then their range to hang out in will be limited closer to their suburbanite homes... so they tend to behave more as mummy and daddy have a far greater chance of finding out what they have been up to.

You have a very valid point there; although a lot of the trouble makers have little regard for authority, so they will just buy a de-registered $200 car and drive that until it gets impounded, and the cycle repeats itself.

Unfortuantely you may be right. So maybe we should crush the drivers and leave the cars at the wreckers.

People who spend $10,000 on their pride and joy are less likely to be the hooligans who feel the need to damage peoples property and drive dangerously, compared to people who drive a $300 car. I personally know of several groups of people who all chip in $50 to buy a cheap car, knowing that it's going to get impounded within days, even hours of getting it. Once it's impounded, they don't even bother getting it back again.

It'l be a passing fad - it takes too much organisation.

Surely that kind of thing must happen quite often though?
