Sass cafe in Featherston. The owner is friendly & the vittles is tasty.

lake ferry hotel - gorgeous sea views, great run off the Takas, round Western Lake, down to the Ferry for a nice bite to eat. seafood is always good there

Gladstone Hotel - into Martinborough, do the gladdy loop, to the Gladstone hotel, where a myriad of riders end up on a fine day - winter or summer. A quiet day in pic 2 below

Great place to visit for an ale,but the lazy sloths woudnt open the lunch bar till 12.30pm.until they had scoffed themselves,so we called at the asian bakehouse in Putururu, magic tucker.

Mungeranie Roadhouse - about half way up the Birdsville track.
First class hospitality and biker friendly to the point that it has hollows carved in the bar floor (surprisingly deep too) where people have been doing burnouts with the front wheel up against the bar.
It's a fair ride from here though, so you won't get there this afternoon. Oh, and the roads are gravel (some of it rough and deep) for about 500 km in all directions, so you'll need some good tyres. There's a pretty major water hazard early in the trip too.
Phil, the owner/manager is one of the best and full of information on local history. He's been known to have a genuine Cuban Havana hiding behind the till too, just waiting for someone to ask the right question.
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.
