Urgent call out for hutt - missing dirt rider

    Hi guys

A friend of a friend went out on his dirt bike yesterday and has not come home.

It is not known apart from somewhere in the Hutt - where he has gone. His level of experience is not high.

If anyone knows tracks etc that he may have gone to please contact me and I will feed through to the SAR team who are already involved.

So many uncertainties - if you bumped into a guy names Phil (welsh accident) green kwaka - yesterday while out riding CALL ME URGENTLY 021 404098.

    Cheers

A motorcyclist, subject of a big police search, has been found safe and well in Akatarawa Forest Park near Upper Hutt.

Wellington Land Search and Rescue personnel found the missing 35 year-old Lower Hutt man about 6.15 tonight in an area of the park known as Devil's Staircase.

He had been reported missing yesterday after going for a ride in the park.

Sergeant Jo Holden, head of Wellington SAR, said the man told police he had flooded his bike yesterday afternoon.

"He tried to get his bike going again before deciding to stay put for the night," Ms Holden said.

"He heard the Westpac rescue helicopter overhead this morning, searching for him."

Ms Holden said the man was currently being escorted out of the park by vehicle and would be taken back to the operations base in Upper Hutt.

"It's always a great result to locate a missing person alive and well and police would like to thank the Land SAR volunteers, Greater Wellington Regional Council staff, rural fire and Upper Hutt Community Rescue staff for their assistance," she said.

Well, devils staircase was my first guess. Went through there two weeks ago. No way in hell could one get through by themselves without a decent amount of skill (and ape like strenght). Im surprised no-one checked their earlier. Definitely a well earned mistake, and awesome that he is alright. Wonder who is charged with getting the bike out.
