I did my BHS on a moped which made things easier, so dumb that its changed though if your riding already, it shouldn't be that hard, its very very Basic.

Yeah im not worried about doing it on a bike what so ever, just the fact i dont have a bike small enough is a pain. Ahh well it can wait awhile longer yet![]()

SPEED KILLS, BUT YOU GET THERE FASTER
DILLIGAF = Does it look like I give a FUCK - Hell no!
Wow this thread turned out to be quite actively negativehaha
Thought id ad something positive in, Thanks to dawn and the guys from Qckchk.
Did my BHS test with some tips and training with them on Saturday and they were very friendly and patient with me.
Now for the good old multi choice test.
Thanks again Dawn.
my g/f and i looked for a while at BHS courses. and decided to make the trip up to auckland and go with riderskills http://www.riderskills.co.nz
they were EXELENT!!! supplied us with a 125 each and was just the 2 of us, everything was very well explained and went into the test knowing exactly what was needed and that i had done it before.
and all this for only $150
did mine with dawn, she was great.
i have no doubt you could get away with riding a larger bike as long as you did it without drawing attention to yourself - something many riders seem to struggle with (myself included at times :P)
Education not Legislation
And so it begins! Passed my learner license this arvo.. So much easier then the car license from what i remember it to be. Or they made tests easier now days?

well done!!!!
I strongly suggest now that you do more training!! like an onroad course with a professional instructor!! getting round some cones is one thing.. but getting out on the open road is a whole different ball game!! remember.. you are extremely vulnerable!! & the more you can do to learn the right skills.. especially around hazard awareness & observation/scanning techniques before you let loose, the better!!
People spend hundreds, and thousands on getting flash bikes & all the flash gear & pretty bling .. but a lot of them can't actually "ride" for shit!!! (but hey.. they "look" good...)
Any plonker can go "fast".. but a GOOD rider is an in control rider.. is always in the right gear, on the right line & at the right speed for any situation they are in, at any given time.
Riding & cornering especially is not about speed! it's about having control over yourself & the bike & riding with "skill" coming out of a corner & feeling "wow that was sweet".. & not "thank god I made it around"
Then look up who the KB mentors are in your region & hook yourself up with one!!!!! Having a buddy to ride with while you are learning is a invaluable! (& by buddy, I don;t mean a mate, who is a young fella full of raging testosterone either) The mentors are all experienced riders who's role on here is to support newbies.. they give their time freely & you will know that they care about you & want you to be safe!!
We hate seeing 'rider down threads' on KB!!!do everything you can NOT to be one of them!!!
As motorcyclists we must make it OUR responsibility to be safe... it's no good bleating on about a car pulling out in front of you coz "they didn't see you"... when YOU are all dressed in black.. jacket, helmet, pants on a black bike with a small headlight..
Get a light or coloured graphic helmet.. wear a fluro vest, get a light coloured bike, get brighter headlight bulbs, & ALWAYS keep your eyes up, looking ahead.. always searching & scanning for potential hazards & threats.. in front of you, beside you, behind you, & oncoming
Wear earplugs, they help you tune in more with your bike & they save your hearing from too much wind noise!
Always be alert & aware!!!!
& have fun!!!!![]()
