Visor fogging?

I see all the comments in favour of the Pinlock and I have been interested but I wear glasses too. It would be a complete waste of money if I stopped the visor from fogging up but the specs did instead. Anyone able to comment on this?

TBH in most condition I actually like have the visor open at low speeds and habitually open it when stopped at the lights or when I am filtering. Unless the weather is totally crappy I also like to have it open just a little on the open roads too.

Each helmet may react differently with airflow etc...............but, I have the Pinlock insert and always wear sunnies. The only time my glasses fog, is when I'm stationary and wearing a balaclava. I also keep my visor open at town speeds though.

Am seriously looking at the UK site for pinlock,was quoted $145-150 for visor and pinlock insert today,can get from UK for 18.99UKP plus freight for the insert and fittings or around 33.99 visor(with pinlock fitted) and 17.99 insert,saving approx $60 or 45%.

Yup, there can be quite a bit of cost differential. A while ago I ordered in an arai visor and insert from this site:

Saved me about $50 on the local price (plus I got a free visor carrier). It's all down to those crazy exchange rates (GBP currently at 0.46 to 0.47 to the NZD - which is a bloody good rate still).

i got a shoei xr1000, and when the cold started coming i had fogging, so bought some antifog. waste of time, then went an got a pinlock visor for $150, and the insert visor $30. never had fogging since, and its bitterly cold atm, at 6am!.

You can get both visors and pinlock inserts from that shop but if your asking do they drill and install them for you - I don't think so but you could e-mail them and ask.

If you have already got a pinlock ready visor (has the pins) then attaching the insert is really easy (just take the visor out of the helmet and flatten it, then put the insert in place (you may have to rotate one or both pins slightly to get the insert flush to the visor).

If your current visor isn't pinlock ready then I wouldn't know how easy it is to drill a visor as I haven't had to do it myself. You could try asking at your local bike shop and see what they think.

I've decided to take the plunge and order in the protectint insert type for my new helmet. They only seem to be available in the UK at present.

Not cheap at GBP45 (which is about the same cost as a tinted visor) but hopefully will be very versatile for day and night time riding without having to change visors. Will post back on how good it is after trying it out for a while.
