Yep mine did the same 1 week after i had bought it second hand. Suzuki would not come to the party, stating it was a competition bike and not designed for trail rides, and that it was required to be rebuilt after every few races. I ended up buying new cases, idler gear and clutch basket of scott at mr motorcycles, best deal , ta.
I reckon the reason it happened though was when i got the bike it was a pig to start, the hot start plunger was siezed, and the previuos owner had been kicking the crap out of it to get it started. since a rebuild and a proper set up it starts without jumping up and down on it. and touch wood its been all good.
Although its is still a crap design from suzuki as that idle gear shaft should be supported at both ends.
