Red face a cold ride to taupo

to day i was killing time... by getting the garage in order, so that i could find my stuff when it was time to move on, when i had to move my bikes around ... i sat on the ground looking at the turbo... a tear came to my eye.

    i was all alone

i went inside.... found my helmit,
found my leathers.. after some hunting, found my boots.

shit i have lost some weight, i have to have a belt on to keep the pants up!

my jacket was just so easy to put on...

found the keys without any hassell....( )

the bike hasn't been started in nearly 2 months! it was a struggle, the battry was finding the going hard, but then it coughed, then fire up .... what a beautfull sound 4 into the turbo into one......
the shed is an all metal construction.... what a noise .. i had to put my hands in my ears.. it was deafing...

out the gate and i was away... to where?

having just got back from dorkland the day before i didn't want to go that way so soon, so i went left to rotorua...... i was going to ... well i went past rotorua... i was going to taupo by the looks of it... was thinking along the way how fucking cold i was getting, mabey i might finish up in welly... the cold got to me and i stopped for gas in taupo, thought a motel for the night, hot pool and a massage... mmmm ( or should that be a hot massage and then a game of pool )
warmed up with a hot pie and the sinking knowledge that i would be turning around and going back to the house....

didn't take the radar detector.. and didn't see any cops
i found out that i need a brighter head light... or i would have to slow down...

got cought in a heavy shower coming out of rotorua... fuck it was cold.....
    i must be getting old
but i'm home now.... why???? who the fuck knows, welly isn't that far from taupo eh? and my bro lives there.. and he LOVES RUM......

I didn't think a sled dog racer would be a wuss when it comes to the cold.

Try the Napier to Taupo trip in July. I have done it in a car and seen the outside temp gage go down to - 8. I have ridden over that road ( July 04 ) when it was frozen solid. Had to let a few cars go past me coz if I fell off they would not have stopped due to the ice. Great fun in the hills. Even the roads over the planes had solid ice. Took nearly 2 hours to do the trip. When we came back from Taupo at 11.30 am we had to take care coz the ice was hidden in places. At least on the trip up I new there was ice every where. It was a trip to remember. The only time the silk balaclava did its job. I left at 6.30 in the morning so had heaps of cloths on. Felt like the Michelin man. Good on you man. Nothin better than riding free of plans.
