actually looking at it, might have to do the round trip if we can. looks about 2500 miles. 10 days would be 'bout right i reckon
Depends on your agenda really - some places there are lots to see if you like looking at empty space and Gum trees. Some places you could be busy exploring for a week - same an NZ amenities wise - just that the distances between centres are sometimes vast and the roads are often gun barrel straight between them. Dial in the crusie control and watch it roll by and it's easy to roll out big miles on either side of the great divide. Conversely there are some good twisties ascending and descending it.
These bikes should be fine for Aussie, there are not that many corners. But if you happen to come across any of the said "corners" make sure you plan well in advance of these as your ride my have other ideas. (LOL)
Yerrrs - but atchally. If we're talking about the Electra Glide, The 2008 onwards Touring Chassis is a tidy handling motorcycle with 'better than a cruiser' cornering clearance. Good end Showa suspension, Brembo brakes, you can even stand on the brake and drift the rear end into a corner slightly it's so well balanced. In the Kiwi Rider test I said it's a PT boat dressed as a battleship. I meant it. It's all relative of course - compared to an aprilia 125 it's still a battlestar - but for the class of bike it's 'nimble'.
Thanks for the replies guys, I "think" I'm better informed......

Is there no Victory hire places? If i had a choice between the Harley and a Victory I'd choose the victory. That 106cu in victory motor is sweet and the brakes work. Gotta get me a ride on the cross country.
The 09 on glides are very good, the new chassis makes a big difference plus the front forks now have a cartridge in them which makes the front work surprisingly well I did a little test to see how the chassis handled I headed up the rimutaka's and just as you go past the lake at te marua there is a double passing lane with a nice sweeping left hander with a bit of faith in the new chassis I hit the corner at 170k's and it went around like it was on rails whereas the 08's and back hd 's would have protested by moving around a bit but not the 09's but I would have to wait another 10 years before I get one as I'm just not old enough yet lol.
