I remember when I went for my restricted, when I passed I couldn't find anything to cut that damn cable tie. At end I borrowed someone's lighter and burnt/melted it.
It felt so good riding without it

    Hi Mate,

Being honest, who doesn't listen to that rule, I'll be honest here, i went 95k on the highway the other day got pulled up from a police office saying "mate you were going over your 70k limit" i just quoted "yip that is true limit is 70k, but it doesn't help when you are on the highway and there is a car right up your rear! and can't overtake cause of the other lane cars. so i had to speed up faster to let that car go, and then you pull me over, to be honest this 70k rule is stupid - i said if it was only 70k we all shouldn't be able to get a 250cc bike it should be lower cause 250cc can hit 70k so quick etc... he just like OK, here is a tip as long you look confidence riding, and for some reason (i don't notice the L plate) we wouldn't do anything .... so i was just lucky he didn't give me a ticket,.... but honest that rule sucks. he told me they were looking at removing that rule, which i think they should! to judge yes, i see a lot of L Plate Car drivers with no one else in there car going that speed, why cant we?? yes motorcycle are more dangerous "hint" why there are courses out there we can take! =-O i haven't stuck to that rule and never well just due to the fact there are impatient drivers out there, ....... my 2 cents worth.. =) have a great day!

    Thumbs up easy as...

Passed my 6R yesterday, how easy was that,
Arrived early to the AA, met the tester, checked my license, he gave it back to me as his words were "It's illegal to ride without your license on you"
The Tester was also being "tested" so 2 people in the car.
Checked my bike over, lights, horn, brake light, REGO & WOF
Put the ear piece in, tested the sound level, he hoped in the car, asked me to go ....
many stops as he had to fill in his paper work, went into a dead end street, he went down and turned around and then asked me to do a U turn in front of him, (Make sure to keep your legs up during the U Turn) on to some 80KPH zones, some 20KPH judder bars, then back to the AA, Once back removed my helmet & he said could not fault my riding... here's you temp license.

    It is really easy.

when arriving at the testing place, check for any hazards surrounding it: pedestrian crossings [both legal and others], give ways, stop signs etc. also, would pay to nip into a $2 shop and get a new l plate. my tester tried to fail me off the bat cos mine was chewed all to hell [3 different bikes = 3 different wear spots.]

I don't know if they use the headsets in Palmy (I assume they would) but I think it might be easier to just look at the indicators on the testers car. For me, the ear piece hurt with the helmet on and it was really hard to hear what they were saying, especially on the motorway. You can probably ask if either use an ear piece when you book your test, and if you do use one, make sure you turn it up, you can hear fine when you are stopped but anything above 20k and the wind noise etc makes it quite hard to hear.
Good luck with your test, its piss easy. Don't stress.

    Talking Woohoo! Ditched the plate!!

Passed my 6R yesterday! Ended up having to shift my appointment from the testing center I normally use to another on the other side of town as they were the only ones that had the time I needed available...

I arrived at the suggested reporting time to see the NZDL guy taking someone out to their car for their cageR which surprised me a bit, but there ya go. Didn't have to rush at all hahah

I get fitted up with a radio earpiece which I was expecting to not be able to hear, but it was well loud enough, infact a bit too loud TBH, but better than not really. Testing office takes me through the process and tells me that in all reality, if I'm still on the bike at the end of the test and not in hospital I'm doing okay

We go through the standard direction changes and straight line tests and then I'm taken into an 80Km/h area where I get to wind the wee 125 out :P Here the earpiece was a bit of a pain, because the instructors mic was voice activated and he had his window down, so the wind shear activated his mic alot, and all I heard was static and couldn't tell if I was missing instructions or not... But I just kept riding until I heard something for certain.

All the factsheets say that you won't progress to the different parts of the test unless you pass each one as you go, but this guy never stopped to let me know if I had or not, so it was only when we got back to the carpark that he said that if I brought my crescent with me (of course I had, power of positive thinking here!) that I could take my plate off as I had passed

Certainly not a hard test, but you can't help get a few nerves up before.

    SWEET!!!

Congrats mate. I guess I just had my ear piece too quiet . I plan to wear an ear plug in my other ear for my full.

Congratulations too. Great feeling to get it out of the way and that 'target' L plate off the back.

I wore a single earplug for my full and spent quite a bit of time getting the earpiece just right. Well worth the time as I didn't have a problem on my full but on my restricted hearing was difficult.

Congrats on passing. Nice feeling to get rid of these Ls isn't it? Now for the big wait till you can get your full.

Thanks. And yes indeed it's nice to get rid of the L plate. It's only taken me about 20 years. I have had my 1F for years, but the license has been a blue learner one because of the 6L. :-) Hopefully, a Defensive Driving Course should get my restricted down to 3 months.

That's going to be my course of action as well, get the DD course under the belt, and as many tutoring sessions as I can cram in as well... I figure that if I'm aiming to spend as little time under governed riding conditions, then I may as well come out on the other side with as many tools as possible to enable me to (hopefully) stay rubber side down.... Preferably
