the tester @ Northcross told me I can go at any speed on the motorway but he wants me to do 80 max for the 6R test

Radio+earpiece provided. I recommend wearing a jacket for the test so that u can put the walkie talkie set in it.

    what I went through:

    pull over x1
    give way intersection x5
    stop intersection x3
    u-turn at cul-de-sac x4
    roundabout x3
    traffic light x2

remember to signal left for at least 2-3 secs b4 pulling over. both feet on ground. then when he give the move ahead command, signal right, turn over yr shoulder then go when it's clear.

as for making a u-turn @ cul-de-sac. I wasn't so sure about the correct way. what i did was, signal left, move bike to far left of road, signal right, turn head over shoulder and full turn. never even put my foot/feet on road or stop.

20 mins around the block, 2 mins on motorway (oteha - greville)

to first timers @ northcross: park ur bike down there and walk up to the 1st floor. dont just walk down there on ur bike. gud luck

    Test at Orewa AA

Could hear on headset just fine. Examiner told me to obey all road rules and speed limit. I asked at a stop sign 1 foot or 2 feet down. Was told so long as I stop the number of feet down was irrelevant, if I could stop without putting feet down I was more than welcome to, so long as I stopped.

    Did a couple of roundabouts, 1 x u-turn in a cul-de-sac, which I started at a 45 degree angle to the pavement.

onto hibiscus coast highway 30 zone and then, by way of a stop sign near Elizabeth St, over the hills into a 70k zone to Hadfields Beach. Pulled into the right, and did a u-turn, and then back onto the highway towards Orewa again.

Then it was hill start on the way back up . Examiner blocked my view of the road somewhat, but I managed to get out ok.

Then back to the test station.. all good

    Well done

Any particular experience of it you can share with others who are going to take it?

    Sorry for the late reply.

Um, there's a stop sign somewhere that's partially facing away from the road and hard to see. The instructor made me do 3 u-turns.

Apart from that, the rest is just commonsense & following the law to the letter.

Hmm yea it was real easy, pointers? just stay relaxed and do everything as if you were being followed by a cop. I have been driving for 10 years aswell so the road rules didn't bother me. So just be over cautious and relax like your goin for a 20 min putt around town... eeeasy

Sat my test in porirua (wellington) this arvo. First time ever riding a road bike haha hired it from a shop in lower hutt. Hardest thing I found was using the indicators.. I reckon if your relaxed and confident with your riding its a piece of p*ss . Also no issues with the earpiece could hear him easy as

sat mine today. earpiece was all scabby with earwax all over it and bloody loud. I cringed every time he gave me instructions, told him to turn it down but he grunted and ignored me. He also kind of mumbled and I could see he had a ciggy hanging out of his mouth in rear view so it was hard to understand him. test itself was easy, apart from him yelling at me through the earpiece to go faster and I'm fanging it on this shitty scooter down the highway trying to get up to 100kph with cars piled up behind us

he tried to tell me I couldn't sit it on scooter but I said it was only thing I have available under 250cc. was not to keen on me doing my full on it but cause of the 250 limit I aint got no other choice. I would recommend doing it on something with a bit of power.

    Did it, passed it!

Be confident when meeting your tester.

I asked what he wanted to see at the stop sign, two feet, 1 foot, no feet. His reply, I don't care so long as you stop.

Talk shit to the instructor about bikes. I know now that he was a former patrol officer in the early 80's who rode a Suzuki 750SP as part of the ministry. He hated it, had a major tank slap chasing a Jag at 140 and gave the bike up. Then they replaced them with a Honda 750SP which went like stink. In short, shoot some shit, don't be in a hurry to get on the bike and fumble away.

When leaving the yard and he says turn right, don't put your indicator on to go left. "Sean, your other right"

Overemphasize your head movements. I did, even though I saw jack all out of the crappy little mirrors my bike has.

Don't lean into a U-turn. Was not a crowning achievement for me.

Stalled at a give way sign! Stupid bike!

Gesture if you can't hear what he is saying through the ear piece. Do not give him the bird though.

Be polite; shake his hand before and after the test.

He pointed out that by keeping my licence it would not matter should I be pulled over as the law says the licence must be produced, and he was driving right behind me.

Other than the stall which does not matter in regards to points, and my awesome U-turn, test went well.

    Good luck all
    This is who we are

Can't remember if it was my 6R or 6F, but when the examiner asks you to ride down a street and remember the hazards, don't forget that the car following you (the examiner) is also a hazard!

Hi there, its actually in the road code that when your sitting your test you can go the posted speeds over the 70km normal learner restriction. Sweet, good luck
