Custom built/modified dirt bike trailers

If anyone requires a dirt bike/road bike trailer to be built from scratch, or an existing one modified for themselves, possibly with custom features that you yourself might want (eg, tool box, awning, petrol baskets, water on board...etc..etc), talk to me as I am fully equiped to do the job.

hey, im just looking at buying a motorbike trailer at the moment. How much would it be for a 3 bike trailer, galvanised and with a floor in between the bikes, also with a box on the front.

Depending on the suspension arrangement you require, it would possibly be around the $2000.00 mark and that is building the trailer from scratch. You also have a option of either galvanising or powder coating the steel parts, same price, but powder coating is better, as you can choose your color. The floor inbetween runner as well as box up front is chequed alluminuim, so no coating on them.

Wouldnt you galv first then powdercoat? Powdercoat will fail long before galv does leaving no corrosion protection for the bare steel underneath.

This might be true, however, normaly ones body fails and one gets out of dirtbiking hence not needing the trailer anymore long before the powder coating does, so the extra expence is sometimes not justified.

i have a trailer that im thinking about selling, but not sure what its worth.

fits 3 fullsize bikes on it, plus has a optional front channel that clips on that can take another full size bike on the draw bar if needed. also has a big truck rope box on the front, tailgate that when folded down is a ramp, led lights, duratorque suspension, 13" alloys, spare wheel, steel painted red, solid jockey wheel, ply floor with steel full length bike channels.

If you read the statement properly by Azzman, he is suggesting that you Galvanise as well as powder coat. What I am saying is to do both is in my opinion a waste of money, however, the final decision always remains that of the person paying, and what I advise people to do has nothing to do with anything.

Yes I read that and on that I agree with you, it does seem like a waste of money.
What also seems like a waste of money is a trailer that fails prematurely due to choosing to powdercoat instead of Galv.
Powdercoating works, granted. And it allows you to choose your colour, granted. But for you to say it is "better" without informing your customers that it will fail sooner than Galv seems odd.
And your wrong, what you advise people to do has everything to do with it. You are the professional supplying the product / service. Therefore it is taken for granted by your customers that you know what you are talking about. Hence they will listen to you and likely take your advise on matters like these.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good idea you have and it's great that you are offering your services to others on this site at what seems like a reasonable price. I wish you the best of luck with this. However your advice regarding powdercoating/ galvinising does seem a little off.

unless the trailer lives in salt itll last longer than most dirtbikes how many bikes are galvanized?
