HELP! Whole life in a month.

    Ok guys...
i've finished my paperworks here in italy, and i'm planning to come down asap.
My first idea was to remain the all three months permitted, trying to find at least a job enough not to starve.
then i considered that prolly i'd have finished all the money well before, so i have to realistically reduce my expected time at a maximum of 6 weeks.

I'm planning to remain about 10 days in auckland, to get a local phone number, convert immediately my driving licenses (i've got bikes, cars, trucks and buses) and scan all the north area airports searching for someone that needs a pilot, while at the same time looking for any possibility as dishwasher, scullion, welcome carpet, sandwich man, shoe cleaner, etc...
then i'd like to go down to bop (tauranga, rotorua) 4-5 days, still searching for pilot jobs, or agriculture...
napier, a pair of nights maybe.
    welly, a week or more.

then pass on the south and pass nelson (a pair of days), chch (about a week or more), dunedin and otago (4-5 days).
all keeping an extra week of flexibility, in case of needs...
in the immediate shortage list of immigration there's a report for needs of glider instructors in otago: i'm not a glider pilot, but it should be not too hard to get the license in case...

I'm experienced in sales and customer caring, i've got a strong mech preparation about bikes, i'm experienced in ambulance service and first aid, and obviously i speak italian if needed...
I've already sent email to all the italian motorbike companies there in nz, to all the biggest airline services (but i miss all the flight services and flight work companies, as agriculture, tourist, technical services...), i've sent curricula to bike repair garages, to phone and electronics retailer...
I'll go to every starbucks, to every shop and office, but without a visa it will be hard, and without a job it will be hard to get the visa...

    here's my (vague) plan.
if some of you could help, i'd need a room or an advice in the places i'm going to stay.
if you're scared thinking at "typical italian", well, i'm not the type.
i don't smoke, don't yell, don't drink (sometimes, rarely, a good beer or a glass of wine...).
i don't listen to music at high volume, i'm clean and i keep clean my places, and i'll do my best for you not to be ashamed of knowing me.
i'm looking just for a clean bed with a bathroom and a shower at a good price.

so please: if you have suggestions about something i could do and i've forgotten, about somehow to find a convenient accommodation, or you have a spare room, well let me know.

    thanks to all buddies...

    Oh...and shorter too.

Napier, eh? Spare room etc here for a few days if needed.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Hey - if you need somewhere to stay enroute to Wellington, I am about 1 hour north, on the east coast.Plenty of beds for you to stay and plenty of vineyards, always looking for workers. but no visa may be a problem....

I know a pilot without a plane (he crashed it -) but i think you are looking for a plane without a pilot?

    can ya fly helicopters?

i know a guy who flys helis in a business that hovers them over frost vulnerable crops to keep them from being affected by frost, if that makes sense... from what he says staff turnover is pretty high. so might be something for you to look into? is the right time of year for frosts

but if you wanted to ride bikes while here, i think you'd enjoy it alot more in the summer!

uhm... ok, that's a good tip
i hope to find a solution about the visa while i'm there...

if your friend is going to pay me to sob together it'll be enough
no, seriously, i hope he's fine after the "hard landing" and if he knows someone in the need of a pilot ( JAA CPL / IR SEP current, PA42 expired )i can be there right in front of you in 12 hours...

    unfortunately i can't.
i'd always loved to get the glider and heli license too, but i'd need money, and in this precise moment (lasting from about 34 years) i'm pretty short...
heli would be very interesting 'cause it'll make possible to work in flight ambu services, mountain rescue, civil guard, which was something i was pretty involved in...
down there, anyway, the flight costs are much lower than here, so if there is a CONSISTENT and TRUE possibility to get a job, i can consider also to spend every last cent i've got to get the heli license too.
much of the theory exams are the same (meteorology, mass and balance, principles of flights, air law, systems, engines, navigation, radionav, and so on...), so i think it'd take me the practise only, or no much more than that...
if it happens to you to talk with him and he says that there are true needs, please let me know: i'll be happy to talk to him...

but if you wanted to ride bikes while here, i think you'd enjoy it alot more in the summer!
    oh man...!
you don't know how it misses me...
but i'm not coming for pleasure, and i'd really want to find a way to remain and to permit Giulia to come there too, so, by now, i'll bear a rented car...

Re a pilot job. If you have plenty of Multi time, a current IF rating, and have converted your licence to a NZ CPL, you *may* find work flying an Islander out of Auckland, but frankly, I doubt it. Turnover of pilots in NZ in the last 18 months has been incredibly slow, and just in the past 2 months has it started to move again. I have 8 colleagues that have just got into AirNZ - none of them had less than 2000hrs, most had over 1000 multi time with very current IF flying. The only other flying at the moment is being pretty closely guarded by those sitting waiting - although if you have a current Cessna 206 rating, and a skydive drop rating, I know someone who is looking for a pilot to start straight away ie: this weekend.
