That would be a great bike! Hands down...! Off road it would be a handful. Hate to be behind him..
Like the te570.....wasted off road, gotta have the blinkers and road legal status, then can be used both on and off....

Watching with interest. I's bin thinking about getting something smaller & lighter than the 640... but it's a tough ask from an adventure bike. For pure off-road a 250F would be the go, but they are too close to my 200 2t - I would like something that races in a different class. 450F or bigger wouldn't be so good off-road (better than a trailie like the 640) but as NZKTM says it will do better on the tar seal. Anything orange will yield synergies with the 200 in parts & knowledge, so that's an advantage for me.

Or do I register the 200 for local adv & trail, and get a soft-roader for commuting and traveling??

The 640 can do everything from road touring to XC. That's a hard act to follow. Improving any one aspect likely will kill another, eg an enduro would be better at XC but I wouldn't ride it to AKL on SH1; a soft-roader would be better touring but I wouldn't take it on a XC.

    Hmmmmmmmmm

Mark, a friend has recently purchased a new EXC400 which he is very pleased with. He says the EXC is lighter to throw around than his CR450X - which is for sale, well maintained.
Colin, that's why I got a WR250R but I'm never riding it to Auckland

Yeah I like the idea of the WR250R... out of my price range at the moment.

EXC400 is supposed to be a sweeter ride than the 450. Would probably haul my carcass as readily as a bigger bloke on a 450, too.
    Cheers,

Yeah they rang me about that one on Fri, had a look Mon it was out the back with a 'sales pdi' tag on the bars... so might have gone already

Looking at it, everything seemed odd/unique... forks, shock, ancillaries. Been hanging 'round KTMs/'Bergs for too long now Japs tend to use generic stuff, KTM uses lots of similar stuff across the range. This looks... exotic, a bit like Gas Gas.

Yep 250 four stroke, not enough urge for me. Riding mate has 2010 YZ250.
Nice bike but not enough grunt on steep uphills for my size.

Quite like the Bergs ( not ruling anything with EFI out ) not so keen on the 16k price tag.
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time

I was at the Tawawera ride last week and guy I was with had a test ride on the 350, said it was fn awsome and he's gonna get one. he is a fast 450 enduro rider.

Me, i'd go for the 300exc as the MX is not my thing anymore.

If i felt the need for some MX a 250F is what i'd get, handle's my weight no prob and a shit load of fun to ride. I'd say you would be at least as fast on that as your RM. (re post above, just need to get used to one and carry a lil more speed instead of relying on the grunt, you'll ride longer than on a 450)

Spoilt for choice you lucky bugger

Yep, heaps of bergs on trademe. Don't ride one unless you mean to own one, as they are pretty hard to resist once you have.

Mine is an 05, and I am never going to ride one of the EFI ones. For gods sake, I may not be able to give it back. I am told (by other owners) this is normally how it starts. So just don't ride one.

    Easy

Negotiations are continuing. I think we could be very close to a deal on a new bike.
May even be riding by the weekend

My suggestion, a 690r with a set of black plastics (to avoid the orangeitis issue), but then of course any ride you go on we will see you at the start and that will be it.

Look forward to seeing your purchase, I predict it will be something fast.

The 690 would be my choice....but, the Price ruled that one out..

So, it's me and the KLR for the time being anyway
