Wimps. Toughen up. Nothing wrong with the cold, keeps you on your toes and your tyres cold. Saves rubber
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

Heated gloves, heated vest, heated socks, one of them snow-mobile helmets with built-in heater - then all you need is a motorbike trailer carrying a small diesel generator (or ride a Goldwing but you'd probably have to turn off the stereo, television, beer fridge (who needs that in winter anyway) and satelite link. )

Or you could harden up. So I've had tears of agony freeze on my face because thirty foot needles of pain have been shooting up my fingers since about 3km out of Cambridge and I'm still nowhere near Te Awamutu and the ice is a millimetre thick on the leading edges of my body and the visor with its layer of ice is open admitting fog and -6 degree air at 100km/h - I survived, didn't I.

OK, I couldn't actually operate a keyboard for half an hour afterwards, but that's merely a handy excuse to wander around the office with your hands wrapped around a mug of rapidly cooling coffee.

The worst part of winter riding is that sooner or later you've got to get out of those lovely warm jacket, pants, and gloves because Suits get intimidated by blokes slouching around the place in black boots and armour - even when the bloke is a short-arse like me.
    Motorbike Camping for the win!

Here comes the south islander, i live in queenstown, our ski season's opening in two weeks, i still haven't got my learners license yet, and the roads are soon going to freeze over and i won't be able to ride my precious FXR150! I got my basic handling thing on sunday, and still haven't ridden it on the road probably go away for the winter soon and then i'll have to wait till summer arrgghh!!!! pity me! Was -1 today, and it's not even winter yet. Hmm, good luck to all the queenstown winter riders out there.
