I'm heading down but full to capacity. Staying at Silver Fern Motorlodge. Should be a good weekend although looking a bit wet. Hopefully the forecast is wrong.

A room for 4 of us is $120 per night. Nice and clean place with tea/coffee making facilities, big shared kitchen down the hall - not that I ever cook while on holiday.

Friday: Cloudy, rain from afternoon, northeasterly developing
    Saturday: Showers, gusty southeasterlies developing
Sunday: A few showers, clearing later, southerlies dying out.

I was riding down there last weekend in the Pureoa Forest park and it was freezing cold - 2 of us in a row hit ice on a corner and ended up in the blackberries. Am glad I've bought some winter weight gloves and will be digging out the thermals.

I'm heading down tomorrow afternoon with a mate and his kids, got plenty of room on the trailer for a couple of bikes, so long as you can get your own ass down there, will be staying in Taupo.

    just PM me

    cheers John

I'll be there with a large contingent of CRFs again. Will be in the silver Land Rover, thanks mum - can fit so much more gear in it than my car.

He's not joking, he just passed me on the way down; truck is the size of a house with a big ten litre motor rumbling away.
It's a good job BP have capped that leak cause that truck is gonna need what's left down there for itself.
Trailer is the size of a football pitch with about a million bikes on it.

Wow what a weekend. Didn't see the big black rig down there but was hard to find anyone with such a huge turnout.

Was impressed with the quality of the trails, will definitely go back again next year. Am aching now but was well worth the trip.

Yep mate bloody good turn out, both days, on the saturday did the first excpert loop, very tight and being so wet those tree roots were slippery, I didn't do too bad only had one off, but it was very challenging I was glad to get back to the main trail.

Yeah, thanks for the offer though, i appreciate it.

i sold a road bike and the guy paid me to deliver it so that paid for a weekend trailer hire and the fuell!
Picked up another stragler that didn't have a lift either.
I saw you heading away from the first day but the parking was so huge i struggled to find my own car, let alone anyone elses.
I'll catch up next time, glad you enjoyed it!
