T7 have 520 X ring chains for a hundy again: http://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products/EKCHON0C2

I put one of these on the 640 mid last year, it has just turned over 10K km & still looks to be in good shape. The sprockets are wearing well too, I think these may actually be better than the RK X-ring chains I was paying $180 for previously.

Might have to look at one. I had to adjust my chain 4 times during the DB. Bike has only done 4000km so I wouldn't be surprised if it still has original chain. It is a non-oring so I guess you have to be fairly careful with maintenance but would you expect that short from a chain? It is pretty much at max adjustment now.

If it's a non-oring then it probably won't be original.

A non-oring chain needs to be babied.
An o-ring chain that's crap would still get 8-10,000 before the wear limits.

They are good for breaking the bead, after that I take the wheel back off the stand and do it on the ground or bench or what have you.
Until I got one I was levering my beads off with 2x4s and my van. This is much better.

60litre drum with the top cut off and a bit of garen hose zip tied to the edge is the best/cheapest tyre changer ever.
A 6' G clamp and a bit of wood, will break most beads.
$60 is the price of 2 cheap bottles of Bourban.

Being that I'm not much of a handyman and I don't have any 60litre dums or anything more than a hacksaw to cut the top off with and I haven't wasted a day trying to make it work I'm a happy man with my $60 tyre thingy from T7.
Only used it on Transalp rear wheel several times so far, going to be good having it when it comes to the DR650 rear.

What...Who...... Where.....? What'd I miss ?

Bead breaking... I have a spare bike or 2 in the shed with side stands, If the beads being stubborn I use the side stand of one of the other bikes. Theyre a bit big/heavy to put in the tool kit though

well done grasshopper, the master becomes the pupil

i use a can of CRC and the strength of my guns to break the bead.
for a changer i put the tyre on top of the tyre im changing into and vice versa.

i dont pinch pennies, i just dont spend pennies
