cheers guys.
Shame so much of its off limits, it looks like an awesome playground
I think most of those interesting looking river beds referred to are on the mountain side of SH1 to the north of the Tukino access road, this is DOC land, no unexploded munitions up there.
Last time I went through there I noticed a few DOC signs have sprouted up telling people to stay out with vehicles, don't want to mess up any ecologically sensitive sand I spose, only lahars are allowed to do that.In the unlikely event of you being caught in there I'd guess the worst you'd get is a telling off anyway.
Cheers
Clint
I can't recall off the top of my head, but something along the lines of:
- First aid qual
- Survival course
- Radio trained
- Maybe police background check or something (term used is "recognised person")
- Navigation training
Or you find someone in the army who gets paid to do all that and go in escorted by them.
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.
+ 1 on that.
Even in the green uniform, if you're in an zone that's already been booked out by ... say... armoured, and you go rolling through with a couple of army klrs, shit can fly. Fast.
Not that it's happened or anything.
(Anyone know how to remove shit stains from a shirt by chance?)
