Odd, dns works, the server is up & you can telnet into port 80, but no web site.

Well the domain expires in 2011, so no problem there.

I seem to get NS failures when trying to resolve the domain...

Domain registration points to ns1.nameserver.net.nz, which doesn't answer for thesandpit.co.nz.
    Cheers,

Sorry, ns1.nameserver.net.nz is not the main dns server, it's ns1.host-care.com & that is working fine.

    NUIRRRI:~ 2060$ host sandpit.co.nz ns1.host-care.com
    Using domain server:
    Name: ns1.host-care.com
    Address: 66.7.219.224#53
    Aliases:

    sandpit.co.nz has address 72.29.94.150
    sandpit.co.nz mail is handled by 0 sandpit.co.nz.

Indeed Vodafone's DNS works as well

    NUIL:~ 206$ host sandpit.co.nz 203.109.129.67
    Using domain server:
    Name: 203.109.129.67

    Aliases:

    sandpit.co.nz has address 72.29.94.150
    sandpit.co.nz mail is handled by 0 sandpit.co.nz.

    Telecom's DNS works

    NUIRRML:~ 206$ host sandpit.co.nz 202.27.158.40
    Using domain server:
    Name: 202.27.158.40

You can telnet to port 80 on 72.29.94.150, it's not DNS that's the problem it's either the configuration of the apache server on that computer, or the web site itself has got corrupt.

You are looking at sandpit.co.nz [edit: "sandpit productions" in hamlitron, who's web is up, if crappy], we are looking at THEsandpit.co.nz.

    We will be there tomorrow.
Look out for a Red/Wine coloured Nissan Pathfinder with a white fox logo thingy on the rear window. KDX, KLX and YZ125 on the trailer.

Come say hi, we can show you some trails too if you like.

    not always easy...

may find they changed it a bit before anyone noticed it went down, then you have up to 48 hours for propagation worldwide.

Depends what they changed I guess. .co.nz is easy, 10 seconds to move SOA from one provider to another. NS/DNS can take a while, and depends on each server and its refresh rate.

.com... urgh... days to complete the damn transfer

Given you can have both running concurrently, there really is no excuse.
