Help!
My FJ decided to die the morning of the Kiwi, which prompted lots a hell of a lot of swearing from me
It is definitely ignition - it was just turning over and no sigh of life at all, not even with engine start.
This afternoon I got into diagnostics, and it has left me confused. Removing a spark lead and grounding a spark plug against the engine showed no spark. I have checked the resistance of the primary and secondaries of both coils and they are ok. I have also checked the resistances of the pickup coils and they are ok as well. Also checked the fuses, netural switch, kill switch, sidestand switch and they are ok as well.
So, it has narrowed it down to the ignitor unit and I even applied 12v direct to it (bypassing the ignition switch) and the neutral light, etc comes on, but no spark when I try to start it.
So, I am pretty sure it is the ignitor unit. Is there a way to test this as no doubt a new one will be expensive and non returnable.
Does anyone know how to test the ignitor unit or have a spare FJ1100 one that I could borrow in order to test?
thanks
