Just looking, any differences, apart from colours? Can't see any but thought I'd ask.
Cheers

Some DRs (and its a very small number relative to total production) had issues with third gear failing. Think it was the later ones, do a search on advrider.com
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

Nordie to the white phone. He has a list of bikes that have had the 3rd gear fail including kms and year.

http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...post1129615694 So all 2007 or earlier that have had the 3rd gear fail![]()
the 2008 and later models have 5hp more and weigh 20kg less.
not.
They went to the metal base gasket mid-2003 no worries there.
98-99 are iffy with the solid starter idler gear.
3rd gear?
I think all years are vulnerable really.
It's a badly designed gear and they did change the part number several times over the years and the latest was in 2008 and I don't think any 08's have made the list yet.
The side dogs on the gear match up with the lands in the teeth creating a weak spot. On the later ones the dogs are slightly offset in relation to the lands.
