    They'd tooled up for a long production run of the short stroke motor then found it wasn't as good "real world" as the old one.....had to find something to put it in to recover tooling costs so invented a new niche market 750 - which has outlasted the motor which replaced it in the GSXR.
    Bet the bean counters at Suzuki are still laughing at that....

    Hey I'm not dissing it, the 750 "Teapot Katanas" are good machines for what they are designed for. Good strong reliable motor. I helped Nasty with the maintenance on hers and was easy to work on.

    F - more weight, cheaper fittings (like brakes and suspension)

    F is probably more practical on NZ roads, but it's not like the Rs are that impractical. I'll always pay extra for less weight, YMMV.

    They're bikes that cater to different markets. An F is for people who just want to cruise, and R is for pushing the envelope. In saying that, I'm sure the F can't be made to boogey though

    i rode a 600F around NZ for 50,000km. rock solid motors. not really a sports bike but really comfortable and well capable of getting from a to b quickly if you want it to..

    The F and the R letters refer to the types of rider the designers had in mind...

    F = Friggin' pussy

    GSX750F is just plain ugly.

    Its like you walked in to get a Lamborghini and walked out with an Audi.
    Its not bad - you just were cheated is all.
