I have been a motocross rider, Trials (back in the day as well), adventure (Fun) Sports bike and cruiser rider. I like them all, however my prob is trying to justify road legal requirements these days. Its high.

A cruiser-tourer (Road King), a vintage (BSA B36) another vintage (Yamaha AS3) a vintage side car (CJ750) and couple of vintage mopeds (Solex).

About the only bike I regret selling was a Triumph tiger 500cc café racer.

A sensible bike would be a GS1200 but....... well........ its a bit sensible.......... um.........

What's the best combination of choice.
Make sure you get the same brand regardless, that way when you swap your plate over to avoid paying your dues it will take cop who knows bikes to recognise the difference.

Buy my speed triple, you'll only need one plate tween the two of em !

Swore i'd never sell any again after my last was sold to pay the deposit on some land my ex is now plowin up, but priorities change and a couple have to go !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

I've always had more than one bike - since I bought a second bike in 1974 ... I have a Commuter Scooter - which is currently a 650 Bandit - and a long distance bike - currently a 1250 Bandit. I replaced an older commuter bike (Honda) with the 650 Bandit and loved it so much I sold my older long-distance bike - a BMW - and bought the 1250.

There's no right answerr to your question. What do you want your bikes to do? A speed freak machine like the speed triple with a more cruisey long distance bike is a good combination ... but you might find that a Harley-styled cruiser is way too different. (I feel very very uncomfortable just sitting on them).

Try a BMW or maybe even the Ducati tourer.

A big one for weekends and a small one for commuting. But if one of them suffers from a terminal illness or accident I probably won't replace it, what with the cost of registration...
