An observation while reading Bike Mags is that, all articles about new bikes are written from a male point of view. Are women not considered able enough to get a mention when it comes summing up a bikes performance?
I'm just not sure exactly how it would fit in around their kitchen, laundry and bedroom duties.
If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!

Personally I couldn't give a rats arse whether an article about a new bike was written from a male or female perspective - as long as the female perspective doesn't have any gag-in-my-helmet type comments such as "has just enough under seat storage for your lippy"
Haha there's NO under-seat storage on the Duc..

The local bike shop here have asked my opinion on the tyres I use, and have used. As they feel it is important to know what a female thinks of them, especially with a similar riding style with the men in this region.

They have also thought it would be good to have a female work in their shop too - so guess times are a changing a little with attitudes toward us.

But I think I have seen somewhere, that a lady is test riding bikes for some magazine, just not sure which one - might be over the ditch

Good stuff, we have female mentors on this site, two of which are certified instructors.
You may be talking about Lula who writes an article for Motorcycle Trader?
I always take the time to read her column.

Why would women need different advice?

I don't see why having from a chics perspective is going to change what is written, I mean I understand that some are a bit short for some bikes, but so are some dudes.
I wouldn't take advice from an article written by a girl more seriously than I would a guy, they are both equal to me.

I don't feel the need to be treated like something special (not when it comes to bikes anyway) I'd rather be just another rider who loves bikes and riding and racing.

hmph... not a single person biting at my terrible post... where is the KB of old?

More seriously... as with any career, sport, you automatically refer to the person as the default sex, ie, netball, I'm sure there is a lot of annoyed little pansy males out there playing netball, who wish someone would say "him" ...

Ok... actually seriously (I'm like a bird with shiny objects)... meh. Shops that ignore females do it to their detriment. A dollar is a dollar, you miss out, someone else gets it. Ladies, if you don't like a shop, don't shop there. Magazines... I would find it very annoying if everything had to be him/her, great bike for large blokes/girls... minor details. Articles for me are about how they handle, problems, issues. No bearing on gender.

I guess the Bike Mags have it right then?
    Who am I to argue?

Now that is a fantastic idea! Now if only I could find a suitable man to go riding with (and all that other trivial stuff too)....

Well yes, thats a good point So you would have to completely alter your sentence structure every time, wasting space that could be used on details.

Then imagine trying to recommend a bike to a lady friend based on their size

    Not everything, thats just stoopid....
Na what I ment in the 1st post was (and some do tend to misread ) is that, in most, if not all cases, its a BLOKES bike. Females dont ride in the mud or race bikes and/or ride sports bikes.
They are however, suited to 250's and cruisers, have ya ever noticed that?
