It its my daughters 10 th birthday and I unveiled the little 90cc dirtbike present this morning. consequently she didn't learn anything at school today

She was waiting for me when I arrived home. Never ridden a bike before. After 10 minutes and a small fall (lucky I was holding the handle bars when she panicked and reacted by opening the throttle ) she was putting around the yard on her own with the biggest smile on her face.

She has already booked me in for tomorrow to go to a bigger paddock where i can teach her to go through the gears....she likes speed.

It was my wifes idea to get the bike so she can learn early as she is always eyeing up my bikes so dont want her hitting the road at 16 with no experience. And my wife does not like bikes at all.....

Yes I am a proud Dad Hopefully she will get into dirt bikes so I will have to bu y one to go riding with her.

Oh she likes it alright...she has always been a daredevil on her pushbike so will have to watch her closely.

Yep, had 3 female riders join us on a group ride on Sunday riding speed and street triples. I think its great. Secretly I hope she likes it enough to try a bit of bucket racing or ths like later on. She won't let me sell the duc, she says thats going to be hers.

I had the same thought for my daughter, however my wife is a bit reserved. Might try sneak one in from santa...... then it's his fault lol, and ignorance is bliss moooohhhoooaaaah....
Without a doubt, getting into riding on dirt and in mud is a great way to learn. Learning how bikes go in extreme situations safely with a soft landing is great. Also alot cheaper than learning on the road as if one comes of, lots of cosmetic bits to break that cost heaps.
I remember my brother welding bits back on my dirt bike after offs testing the boundaries.... footpegs, frames, pipes, handle bars and even a pilon once..... No comment...

Best bit of kit (apart from the obvious)...chest/back protector. Those handles bars end up in strange positions when they are learning!

I got my first at 8, My Son and Daughter the same. Recently I have forked over 2 and a half Gs to match my sons savings so he could get his first road bike. Daughter prefers 4 wheels on the road so I matched her for a car.
