    Illegal number plate?

So my new toy has this awesome tail tidy with a non-government issue number plate (see pic) which I'm assuming is illegal?
I'd quite like to keep it as is if possible, so just wondering if anyone else has one similar & whether they've had any hassles with it?

It's only illegal if you get caught!

Kinda think its a question that really doesn't need an answer. Its obvious really. Maybe you should ride without a helmet too - would that be illegal?

Wow whats up your bum this morning?!

I was more asking whether its the kind of thing I'll get pulled over for or whether its something the cops aren't likely to bother about.

FWIW it got a warrent from a bike shop with this plate

That's what I was trying to say with my post. You know its illegal but you'll only get 'in trouble' if the cop sees it/can be bothered.

It's kind of like ridng without a L plate on your learners, you make the call....

So easily identified by others, and thought this was obvious, but you still had to ask the question. Nothin up my bum, thanks for asking, just amazed that someone who has the intelligence to ride a bike needs to ask such a question...... ANd it doesn't a plate to get a warrant, it needs a warrant to be road legal and registered.

its a bit like the german plates a lot of cars have. They are theoretically illegal but i dont hink much happens about it.If and when plate reading cameras start to get used is when they will start to tighten up on it.

Well obviously I've blanked the number out before loading it up, since its very easy to find out someones address details if you have their license plate number. I'm not going to make a thiefs job any easier!

And yes, a warrent covers whether the bike is road legal, I would have thought this would also cover the regulation of plate size etc but seeing I'm not certified to carry out such an inspection I wouldn't actually know that would I?

Many years ago, I got pulled up by an MOT officer because he spotted the non-standard plate on my car. After finding other issues, he gave me the choice of which infringement I wanted (Nice of him). I said the one that's the cheapest, he said they're all the same cost and then recommended the "seat belt", because it didn't carry demerits. I think even that has changed now, but I wouldn't recommend a fake plate!

Anything other than a government issue plate is illegal.
I suspect that if you were stopped for anything (other than the plate) and your attitude was in 'need of adjustment' (or the cop was low on his quota) you would be okay.
Will a regular plate fit on the bike as it is now?

Well I do make a concerted effort to keep my pace down on the straights & practise being smooth & consistant (and ultimately faster) through the twisties (coz we all know thats where the real fun is ) so I shouldn't be doing anything to give them a reason to pull me over in the first place!

I'll check, a regulation plate should fit fine though
