    HELP! Parking wardens

    Got a parking ticket today.

Infringement Fee 40 Dollars - Offense - Parked on the Footpath.

I wouldn't be pissed off if i had been considerately parking. But I was booked for parking in the same place as I had parked in the last 6-7 months since moving down to Wellington.
Even a warning ticket would of been nice but a straight infringement seems cut-throat.

Can somebody please tell me the process of protesting a ticket. Am I able to contact them in person and reason this fine out? 40 bucks is a punch in the groin being a student at Vic.

    Any information is appreciated thanks.

dude parking on the footpath is an offense. just be gratefull that you got away with it as long as you did, and next time park in a proper park, and hell, just walk the extra couple minutes to class

I would say a protest would be a waste of time. Parking there over the last 7 months wont be a reasonable excuse if its a no parking area, which a footpath is.

I know what you mean. For the past 6-7 months I've ridden slightly over the limit on a stretch of road out to Little River, then without warning I got a ticket for excessive speed. I mean come on, I've been doing it for ages, an infringement seems a little cut-throat to me too.

Know what you mean - I regularly hit 180 klicks on the Napier-Taupo Road ... then I got pinged at 136 ...

I really didn't want to protest on the basis that I was going slower than normal ... I was just grateful he got me at less than 140 ....

Iv had two fines in the last month or so both for $150 fucking dolars. something about blocking access for disabled persons? 1st one was on the foot path in residential wadestown and the second in town blatently parking on yellow lines coz bike park was ful - that one ill accept but the first?nahhhhh no deal.

It sounds like you should be paying $40 for parking on a footpath - are you able to get a reason from the parking nazis about why it is $150? I mean more than "blocking access for disabled persons", as in a full explanation of what that means. It would be good to have a proper explanation before paying that much - otherwise it could be some anti-bike parking nazi making shit up to sting you with a bigger fine.

I live on a steep narrow street in a suburban area 5km outside of town. The neighbour got a ticket for parking on the footpath. It is 3m wide and still left at least 2m for foot traffic on the poorly maintained, greasy, moss covered remainder. I have had my car sideswiped whilst parked outside correctly (they did not stop or own up btw). The councils enthusiasm for revenue collection knows no bounds and defies bloody logic!!

    Smile Farking Parking!

    Hey Capinure,

Even though the circumstances suck, the guys are right. Sounds like you've been pretty lucky up to now. At the link is a Wellington CC map with mc parks marked. Might be useful for future reference...
