    Kiwi Rider ST7 test.

the hyosung ST7 got a great write up in KR but for the RRP of $24995 there's so many bigger better cruisers you could get.

Why is KR always full of these sort of errors?

Also the SXF350 has a bore and stroke of 57.5 x 88, Long stroke motor eh?

Where did that price come from? I think you'll find they sell for around half that price...?

Hyosung will be spewing over that one! That will put a lot of prospective test riders off, I hope KR:mellow publish a correction.

Had a look at the ST7 at the Hyosung shop yesterday, it looked promising til I saw the tank mounted display. Was pretty disappointing, they are actually the worst.

    Price correction has been placed.

    Full. Shuh.

I don't know the Hyo story or how it happened. Correction next month in print - online now. Apologies to anyone inconvenienced.

Often it's just a typo in this sort of case. Sometimes it's the data we are supplied.
FWIW we had more faux pas when I worked at the Foodtown Magazine. That left a bitter taste in a lot of mouths.

Question about magazine publishing - does anyone do a final read cover to cover before they go to the shop? Not referring to any mag in particular, i've seen errors in all sorts of magazines.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

Depends on the size of the publishing house as to how many sets of eyes check it.

    In a big show:
Writer submits copy, a sub-editor corrects it and brings it in to house style if necessary, a designer then lays it out (and may or may not re-read it), a different sub-editor then proof reads it and the Editor signs off the pages.

There can be as many as three or four sign-offs at various production stages.

At a small publisher - Writer, Sub-Editor, Editor and proof reader can be the same person.

    KR is in between.

There are lots of places errors can occur in the process. Everyone busts a nut to get it right - it's a very public fail. My most recent clangers were inserted for me. Comes with the territory too.

$12,995. is a better price for this machine, it would be interesting to see a shootout of cruisers in the same price bracket.

    st7

A friend bought one, i had a ride on it and i was quite impressed how it rode, in this bracket i would suggest trying it out, better than shadow 750 more power and response , and corners well

re how does it compare to a m50

Firstly it is closer to the c50 than the m50,The m is for muscle and c for classic ,it depends what you want , advantages are the ST7 is considerably lighter 225 against 276 kg which in turn is reflected in nimbleness etc. Power and torque is good and smooth right thru the range probably better than the c50 in the lower to medium speeds on acceleration, but havent ridden a c50 hard enough to make an opinion at higher speeds,
the finish is ok though the big flaw in my opinion is that the engine doesnt have fins on it like a cruiser should , the engine looks cheap and lets the bike down ,but maybe i am biased i love suzukis, and the cruisers even though water cooled have fins, i have a m109r and that engine stands out, isnt this part of the cruiser atmosphere?.
But having said that it is still a good riding bike, and likely to impress people for bikes in this bracket.

I bought the KR mag to specifically read the review on the ST7, but as soon as I saw the price listed in KR I stopped reading...
