Has anybody had their rego nicked?

I was washing my bike just now and noticed that my rego is missing and the plastic covering was open. I can only think of 2 explanations. The wind somehow dislodged it and it flew out (Unlikely, but not impossible) or, someone forcebly removed it while it was parked somewhere. I often have to leave my bike parked and unattended for periods of time as its my only vehicle.

I am assuming its been swiped and I'm fucking fuming about it.

I had a Wof go missing in much the same way but, at the time there was only a few days remaining on it.

Just go to the post shop and get them to print you out another one. It's usually free....

anywhere that can give you a rego label can also give you the sticky backing for them for sticking them to bikes, trailers etc. Perhaps stick that on and then put it inside your holder, should give it a much better chance of staying put and make it slightly harder for some mischievous bastard to remove.

I lost mine once, went and got a new one and the bloody thing blew out on the motorway 10 mins later. That was with one of the typical car windscreen sleeves though, which was on the bike when I got it. After that I switched to using the stick ons

I put my Rego and Warrants in plastic holders and and seal them in with a bead of epoxy to stop water getting in .

I guess that makes them hard to flog as well.

BTW: They are mounted to the bike with a "special -headed" bolt for which I have a tool.

Photcopying it and put the original in your pocket. That way if you lose it you can just photocopy it again and you are being legal by 'displaying a rego'. If queried about displaying a copy, produce the original. It does not say in the road code (to my knowledge) that you have to display an original registration sticker!

Be aware that the Road Code is not the complete definition of the law.

pity the road code is not the law!

i'd be surprised if they copy too well, and even if they do i would not be displaying a copy. seems like a sure fire way to get a ticket from some parking warden with nothing better to do

You don't want to do this.
regardless of the type of holder you use,it should be fitted so that chain oil leaks into it and completely obscures the label
