If the 4x4 is used mostly off-road as you say, then that should go on hold.
How often do you use the trailer? It might be more economical to sell it and hire one as required.

yep, costs are going through the roof, time to make decisions.
Sold my diesel ute earlier this year, that saves me around $1100/year (rego & insurance) + no more RUC charges/fuel costs etc. I have a company car anyway, so no great inconvenience other than having to hire a trailer every now & again.
Bike will now be rego'd for probably 8 months of the year, so should bring cost down to similar to last year. Bike insurance has just arrived though, it's gone up $70 for the year despite no claims (ever). Might be time to start shopping around on that again, considering I do less than 5K a year.
Shaken, not stirred in the shakey city!
After 40+ years of saving and skimping for retirement security what do the politicians (Labour and National esp) do, they devalue your savings by excessive taxation, inflationary policies and aiding and abetting a myriad of dubious financial and banking institutions we end up with sweet fuck all and the tell you all to "SAVE"! FFS!
When I first started out in the work force I was inundated with life insurance salesmen, they locked you into these great insurance schemes that cost you an arm and a leg, only to be worth fuck all at maturity!
Save for retirement, yeah right!
The harder you work and save the more they flog you for doing it and take everything off you when you get there!
But they never face the same difficulties themselves, they see to it that "they" are OK!
Now they have even made riding my bike prematurely financially impossible because it is so dangerous! FFS
Who asked them to save me from myself!..............so now you know what "they" mean! Cunts!
I am really really really pissed off!![]()
thats gotta suck...... one word for you flip up plate and no reg...And go hard ..![]()
WISDOM IS KNOWING KARMA REALLY CAN'T GET YOU.

SPEED KILLS, BUT YOU GET THERE FASTER
DILLIGAF = Does it look like I give a FUCK - Hell no!
me thinks another trip to the capital should happen, let em know that a year (or thereabouts) later we haven't forgotten, and we're still fucked off. Keep some annual leave in reserve people, one way or another we'll be back!

We are all slaves to the system... and it has been dsigned that way to keep you slaves to the system because it has been inbreed that that is the only way... we come up with new idea's but in the end it just a old idea that has new packaging that didn't work...
They are all puppets.. you have to find the puppeteers and cut the strings...
Sad thing is people don't see it... and it will never change...
I'm looking forward to retiring and will probably shift to a 600cc bike at that time purely because of the ACC embuggerance. Ignoring some particularly tasty sprotbikes for obvious reasons, there's a shortage of 600s about. Lots of 670, 675, 690, or whatever, but those few extra ccs are expensive.
Just as well the only 600 I can think of is so bloody good. Looks like I'll be a Hornet owner again.
By way of revenge I'll probably cast my vote so as to cause either of the two major parties the maximum amount of grief . Welcome back Winston Peters?![]()
I thought it was 650cc and above, so most 650's are not actually 650 but 599cc or something!
I think it would be worth contesting, nominal against actual, they are being damned pedantic, why can't we!
Winston is just another socialist, don't expect anything much different from him, they all represent bigger government at our expense, bastards!
There are only socialists on offer in this country anyway, left of centre or completely left, take your pick!
Received my reminder notice for my little Toyota Townace diesel truck today, a wee two seater 2litre 4x4 tip truck that hardly carries as much as a small trailer...$583.31 for 12 months..ACC levy $467.08! Incredible!
Works out best if I only do it 6 months at a time until it goes on hold.
Every time I look in my garage and see my bike gleaming away it sends me into a deep fit of depression, bastards, especially that prick Nick Smith!![]()
Don't let the bastards get ya.
I've got so many vehicles.. I have enjoyed driving them all, but the reality is that ACC has made it unrealistic for me to keep them.
In the meantime I am driving them with a WOF but no rego. For some of them it has been almost a year since they last saw a rego tag, so I have saved over my motorcycle fleet about $2500, giving me plenty of room to pay a fine should I be caught.
At the moment, being caught doesn't seem likely, but the local paper reports Wellington Police now have a van, which uses number-plate recognition. This no doubt will be parked in busy places collecting number-plates, to allow a ticket to be mailed.
Eventually the balance will swing, and riding rego-less will be come tricky. Perhaps my moped reg will do the rounds of all my bikes as required, or I will keep one plate live for all bikes.
The problem being, that like lots of other bikers, if it becomes necessary to reduce my vehicle fleet I will do it. ACC will collect less revenue as a result. But I will still be out there, riding my motorcycle.
ACC face the basic laws of commerce. By putting prices up, they will have less customers. But they wont have any lower costs.
My advice ?
Ride rego-less until being caught is more likely than not. Then, pick the vehicles you like most and keep them.
Thats my plan anyway.
David must play fair with the other kids, even the idiots.
