Hey KBers - has anyone in Wellington noticed the "repairs" that have been done on the motorway section by the ferry terminal/Aotea Quay off/on ramp? There used to be metal joiner strips that went across the road (at right angles to the flow of traffic) but about 2 months or so ago they put black bitumen-type seal over the strips, making the joint section now about 300mm wide. OK when you are crossing over straight on, but when getting onto the motorway heading north these sections are not only slightly angled, but you are also slightly leaned over as they occur on bends in the road. You also have to be accelerating to join the traffic flow. Ok in the dry, but in the wet it is a definite "moment" and I'm just waiting for some less experienced biker to arse off . . . Well done (again) NZTA (not!!!)Be warned.
