    Now this is a trip!

Found this on a Harley forum
This guy did this on a new sporty (I think) with a sidecar fitted to it

"From Saskatchewan (road kill capitol of North America) it became
interesting. So many dead animals everywhere.Roving packs of wolves
and coyotes made for interesting road side stops. Not to mention the 7
km long cloud of huge dragon flies I went head first into in
Manitoba. The mini windshield could not keep them from smashing into
my face .It was like something straight out of the bible.

I forgot that thirty years ago when I first made the trip the roads
were newer and there were less cars and many less big rigs pounding
the pavement. You never feel so vulnerable as being on top of a
motorcycle with 75 ft trucks heading straight for you.
The never ceasing winding roads constantly climbing to nowhere.
    Or so it seemed.
In desperation and possibly fear I just kept going and going.
Wet it was.Non stop thunder, pelting rain, over and over.I desperately tried
to get off the road with no shoulders and only 90 degree off ramps and
finally at two am found a spot that said `rest stop`.It was at the
location Terry Fox had come to the end of his journey. The statue spoke
of his courage and I would need to muster some of that courage to
continue to the adventure I would have the next day.
Bring Jerry cans because most of the motel/gas stations were boarded up due to the lack of tourists

The hill climb to Schreiber was almost more than my vertigo could
handle. The clutch slipping half way up the hill and re shifting hard
made me feel I would never survive the trip.
Damned if I would be beat in my quest.I blew by the 54 km of overhead
highways and blew through Ottawa and then Montreal in the same
day, putting as much as 1000km in a single day.

I did not go on this journey to sit here waiting for someone to die
but rather to live a life of less stress. It was been far from that.

Quebec has changed so much over the last thirty years.
It looks so neglected everywhere The city
of Asbestos is dead.Everything is closed and boarded up.The mine will
not reopen and the city will continue to die. There is no future there.

The only computer at the public library was a 233mhz with 64mb ram.$2
hour, max one hour a day,max 1 hour every two days,
It was amazing and at the same time troubling to find a town with no children.
I sold my house in Asbestos to the neighbor on condition my mother can live out
the rest of her life there rent free.Should she need assisted care
then the money would cover the additional costs.
    He needed the land.
I drove to see a house in New Brunswick and that was not an option
either.Constant rain and non stop hills. But I did swim in the Atlantic. BRRRRRR
I'm up to 12000km on the bike.It is more and more painful everyday.I
was doing 1000km everyday now I'm down to 3 or 4 hundred.I've done
three hundred today in 0 percent visibility (extreme fog). It's tough
    going.I'm really feeling my age.
Terrace Bay is a beautiful little town.I seriously considered staying
    there for good.
I was scared with both the pulp and saw mill closed , the town may in
    time become like Asbestos is.
I guess after being here 30 years I really wanted to come back to
Edmonton and maybe work part time for the Mustard Seed or something
like that.Enough to pay part of my
rent. And to be where my children still needed me.
So I did exactly that ,having arrived a few days ago.I did a full
13,000km on the motorcycle. It ran beautifully and it paid to be a
perfectionist on it's build as it has amply proven itself.
This was my retirement ride.Never to be repeated but definitely not my last."

An absolute blast. If anyone had told me that at 58, a few heart attacks,a pacemaker later ,.I would be doing such a thing I would have called them nuts. Never underestimate the beneficial effects of riding .
