Good dirt bike forums for Australasians?

    hello

im a long time rider / mechanic, but internet newbie - i have a BRP (XR 650R) that has been my pride & joy since my GSXR carked it

my 650R has slowly been getting hotter over this last year & its gotten to the point that im wanting to get my Keihin bored out (has an FCR41 on now - wanting to get my 38 bored bigger)

im looking for some advice on which forums would be good to frequent for dirt bike owners in our patch of the globe

    - mainly regarding parts/mods used & where to get certain jobs/mods done that i cant do myself

    this is my baby

mostly rebuilt - mostly hotted. my specialty is extractors. but carbie re-boring is especially fiddly & the guy ive talked too about it so far, R&R Motorsports, has brushed me off over it not being needed.

if i was racing the bike he might have been more interested. & i know big singles, ive owned & hotted them since my teens. its annoying because i havent been able to come across anyone else who has done / is willing to do carburetor boring

pretty sure we have an XR thread here, but none of the work you're wanting done.
i'll stick a drill in your carb holes if you want, but what's the advantage over going to a bigger carb?

    -edit-
strip your carb and take it to any engineering shop with a box of beer.

top end power, but basically a bigger one can give you more power everywhere (if your engine breaths hard enough of course)

id buy a Keihin FCR43 or 44 if they were available - but as far as i know 41's are as big as they come - which is just bizarre considering how many big adventure thumpers are made these days

boring 41's larger is a real fiddly job, its done off-center & only just leaves enough metal in the top of the hole when its done to the max (around 44mm if you have a KTM oem keihin, they have more casting meat in the carb chassie for some reason)

yeha. is 44 how big your slide is?! awesome.

but then to fuck around with jets and needles... if you're modding it that hard it's going to be more than a clip up...

Nice. That's a seriously badass XR.

In case you haven't found them already have a look at the XR thread on here:

    http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...-owners-thread

Which is in the Adv-dual purpose section:

    Cheers

Love your bike mate and welcome to the site.
My brother is an engine builder in Tauranga with all sorts of boring machinery so if all else fails pm me and I'll send you his details.

PS.He has rebuilt everything from World Champion jetboats to the Tauranga tug boat motors,NZ V8 champ motors and a certain Moto Guzzi racing sidechair so should anybody need a top job done he's "The Man".
Never too old to Rock n Roll.
