Though she's only a 250 learner, she's my first bike. So I did want a name for her.

My wife suggested Gloria, as in G-L-O-R-I-A by Them (OK, by Van Morrison if you don't know Them). She said suited her, hanging out with an old rocker.

I do say, "I'm taking Gloria out", and I do talk to her, pat her tank after a good ride or if we haven't been out for a day or so.

Probably. Is it normal for the bike not to listen?
Learn basic maintenance as motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking in

An affectionate term maybe that endears the bike to yourself, or makes you feel more emotionally attached to what some would say is an inanimate object made of steel, plastic, and rubber.
Others get real emotionally attached to their steed as some do to a horse or dog , cat badger etc....... I don't know take your choice.
The point is that I have a nick name for my bike, and it makes me feel more attached to it in a funny sort of way. The wife thinks I'm crazy, she just aint a biker aye
I'm not telling what my bikes nickname is yet . I might get embarrassed or hassled.

I did call my old KDX200 "Kermit " not very original I know, but me and Kermit had alot of good times together. When the going got tough in rough one day I found myself talking to Kermit, saying something like 'come on Kermit you can do this boy, you can get us out of here" and Kermit responded with large' fart of a crackle' out of the exhaust and we both popped out of the swamp.
Made me feel good ...........I think Kermit was happy too. Just joking.
I always name them. dunno why. dont name cars, fuck 'em!. Last one was scarlet. I now have a Blue R1, and havent thought of a suitable name yet though.

I have always felt that bikes are a very personal item though. you are more in danger on one, and thus you are more aware, and you experience more of your envionment. Not to mention that (on a sportsbike anyway) to ride it, you are pretty much physically hugging it with your whole body

My RMZ is Danica - chose it in a hurry because a friend of a friend got his DR250 named Margret by his mates, and I did not wish that fate on my bike.

SV650 - Suzy. Bloody original that.

The new Speed Triple is undecided. It's either "Speedy" (another bloody original one) or Mandy. Mandy comes from a mate of mine calling it "the flying mandarin" due to being orange.
