    NZ Supercross Open

    NZ Supercross Open

    30 December 2010 - Mount Maunganui

Today a new and exciting fixture on the New Zealand Supercross calendar was announced that was the result of the combined skills and experience of two good friends, racers and passionate off road motorbike enthusiasts Scotty Wilkins and Matt Taylor

30th December 2010 will see NZ’s best Super X riders descend on Mount Maunganui for the inaugural NZ Supercross Open. The event, which will be held at professional Moto-X racer Mason Phillips’s home track, is purposely timed to capture the influx of holiday makers to the Bay of Plenty holiday hotspot. That is without forgetting the solid off road dirt bike community that runs through the surrounding catchment and of course, the Tauranga and Mt Maunganui locals, a solid crowd to this hi-energy racing spectacle seems a very likely proposition.

Wilkins and Taylor have a long list of previous events and projects to their respective names, with Scotty taking on “Race Director” responsibilities and Matt committed to the “Event Promoters” duties. “I believe Scotty is one of, if not, the best “Race Director” in our sport, he has many years experience as a rider, and now as an event organiser, which have included National Championship Events. Anyone will tell you Scotty is firm but very fair and he is prepared to make the big decisions under pressure when needed, and I have complete confidence that this important area on an event is in good hands, that lets me focus on what I need to do. All in all we work very well together and I am excited for what lays ahead in the coming months” says Taylor, he continues “I have been based in the Bay for the past 4 weeks getting things moving and I am absolutely thrilled with the supportive response from the locals, I am talking across the board from general public, through to the local bike retailers, potential commercial partners to local body council staff, it is very motivating”.

NZ's top riders will do battle on the full size US inspired Supercross facility. This venue offers superb viewing from all vantage points, continuous entertainment, and an event that reflects great value for your entertainment dollar, only minutes from Bay Park. This year the elite of New Zealand riders will be fighting to have their name etched onto the NZ Supercross Open Trophy first, expect some aggressive racing,

Tickets for this event will be available in the coming weeks and Supercross fans are promised these will represent extraordinary value. Wilkins concludes “It is important to us that our event is affordable for the family, people are selective as to where the entertainment dollar goes these days, and it is vital we provide great entertainment, at a well executed event, for a fair price that is affordable, that is our goal, and we are working hard to achieve it”

    Ends.
