    A brief update:
Seeing as the newmarket viaduct is actually open until 5pm saturday (great advertising eh?) I will be at the Westgate Shell? station at the top of the north western about 8.15 - 8.30 waiting for Whysper and I will make sure that we finish up early enough that those heading south can still get back down the southern motorway well before the viaduct closes.

I have only a rough plan in mind so am open to suggestions, we could wander up Muriwai beach for a bit or simply stick to gravel roads, let's discuss at Riverhead.

You guys should definately head around the back of riverhead and do Chatham Road, it is nice and dry at the moment.

Won't be a problem.......you will wobble around and get the hang of it, it's only half an hour up the beach and it's bound to provide plenty of entertainment.

Weather's looking ok, might be a bit cold with the odd light shower in the morning, are we tough adventurous types or not (don't answer that!)?

    See you guys tomorrow.

Bloody glad I'm not at the Cold Kiwi!

Having some brekkie, should be on the road in about 15min.

Glad the god awful weather from last night seems to have passed over.
    See you at Wesgate Crisis.

Hope that motorway thing isn't too much of a nightmare tonight.

I'm on for a ride north or south so either west coast / Raglan / Kawhia or west coast / Helensville / Muriwai / Puhoi.

I can guarantee rain and gravel, bring your own flavour of adventure, all and any (biologically possible) suggestions welcome.

You have until wednesday, that's when I choose a route and post it up.

I have had a number of trips North and South over the last two weeks and I cannot understand why there hasn't been more riders killed in the rush hour! Some of these guys think they are bullet proof, the speeds they do, lane splitting. The indicator light or the hazard light gives them the right to go at 50kph or move from one lane to another and quickly cut in....Geez, it is damn right scary watching them.

Interesting ride today, only the three of us with Wysper bailing on us after a lil spill on Murawai beach.....

Met up at Shell Westgate & had to wait on Wysper as being new to travelling thru Alk got a lil lost. By the time we got to the station at Riverhead(8:50) there was no one to be seen.

Carried on to Murawai beach where about 10k in Wysper came closer to the sand than he wanted. No damage done but maybe a lil shaken.

Headed to Helensville for a coffee and at the petrol station Wysper said he was gonna cut the ride short and head home(Hamilton) Said his head a lil woozy so with advice to stop often and not to continue should head/vision get worse from Iain we went our seperate ways.

After a little wander up and around Puhoi we stopped for lunch and a brew.

From there a route south thru some more gravel.

Stopped for a ride down Chatham Road but turned back about half way as SOMEONE didn't wanna continue

    Then off home, all good.

    Cheers Iain

    Few more pics

Greg came off at a decent speed, not bad for his first crash!

Managed to cover the DR in sand and rip the visor off his helmet.
