Yeah all right, I must be getting old. In my defence (weak and feeble attempt) my rear tyre is doing a good impersonation of the state of my hairline and I didn't want to get Cary covered in mud pushing me...........

Thanks for the company (and the entertainment Greg) the next one for me is the NBA, I will try and de-woosify myself for that.

Johann, I got your message, we were runnning late and feel guilty for missing you, so we're bout even.

Pretty sure the beach was fine.

Looks like the dr has come away fine except for maybe a slight twist of the handlebars. (was going to replace those eventually anyway)

My right shoulder is pretty sore just now, splitting headache, but vision has got a lot better of late.
Might have had a bump to the head I didn't realise at the time.

Thanks for the pics guys, glad no one got one of the DR taking a nap. The KLR vs DR thread would have a field day.

Clearly soft sand + gravity beats keen but clueless LOL

I think I was going a fair clip when the trouble started, and as this was my first ride on sand I did the wrong things, sat down and tried to slow down too quick! Then I slowed down REAL quick.
As Crisis said, the DR's are good bikes to crash.

Sorry I delayed the ride in the first place too! Still all learning experiences right. Cary and Crisis were awesome in making sure I was alright and then checking I made it through the REALLY SOFT sand on exit.

Glad I made the effort to get up there, even if I did make a bit of a hash of the ride.

No hash was made, you did really well on the sand, you should have seen me the first time I was on sand, it was an ongoing disaster movie! Glad you got home ok and it was good to see you had the sense to call it off early rather than struggling on feeling like crap, you'll be fine next time.

Damn, if I'd spotted this earlier, I'd've joined you guys!

Well, if I was less hungover this morning, that is.

I saw 2 orange bikes at Puhoi about 1pm as I whizzed by doing the reverse circuit. I woulda stopped but the gravel was calling...

Looks like you guys have a fun ride, shame I was so close to where you were riding, but without my bike

Cool, photos. But shame you whimped out on Chatham road, how far up did you get? Let me guess, to that bog hole I was stuck in?

As self appointed ranting old know it all of the Wuckatoo hapu, I hereby announce that utu will be duly fed out to those hethens that beat up on a new member of adv crew.
This utu will go far beyond loud snoring/farting/moaning in shared accom with any northern riders involved in this sorry display.
Pink Eye utu could possibly be called on, although a koha of bulk alcomaholic beverages served on the naki ride may help lessen the end carnage.

Bugger! I had my eye off the ball and missed the thread until after the ride... Instead I was doing a 30k service on the Freewind with quite a bit of help.

Speaking of which, the plastics are still in my shed from my outing (as a rider with much to learn) on the Sth Auckland gravel ride a couple of months back. I hope to have another go at riding in a group without falling off before too long, so look out...

    Glad you're OK, Wysper.

    Cheers - Chasio

Well, now you will have me to contend with. Feeling a bit battered and bruised today, but everything seems to be working

Not even bad enough for a day off work so must not have tried hard enough.

Still glad it wasn't on gravel or the road, I don't think me and the bike would have come off quite so lightly.
